>wait a second didn't people hate 2 on release?
On early access release absolutely not, everybody was raving hard, people were literally posting their spread anuses in /v/ threads begging for beta codes, I should know, I was there and I still can't unsee it.
6 months later though? The tune began to change VERY fast, "Early Access done right!" set up expectations that were simply not being met at all and people began to rightfully become angry over it, but the game itself was still good.
Then came the lootboxes. Then came the evidence that Tripwire literally did not play on difficulties above Normal. Then came resistances. Then Martial Artist was canned and replaced by Survivalist. The quality of new content degraded very noticeably and their 400FPS mocapped guns were nowhere to be found outside of the original ones that came with the EA release. The new, free weapons were just plastic reskins of already existing ones. Then E.D.A.R.s was the final stake through the heart for the vast majority of people.
After all of that, that's when it released out of early access, and that's when people realized that meant they could refund the game despite hundreds of hours, and so we did.
