why there seems to be a resistance againts using AI as another art tool for gamedev artists, just like how blender, houdini, and 3D sofware is considered tools?

Can AI really extract the pose or animation from images and pass it to Blender or as a Koikatsu pose file?

If it can look at an anime image, and generate a 2D model of that character and slap its pose on it, that would be great.

You literally do not need AI at all for this.
It's a built in feature for blender.

Because wagies are getting replaced.
Same thing happened when weaver machines came about.
Same thing happened when digital drafting software came about.
Same thing is happening now.

Old industries are constantly dying, and new industries are constantly being born. Its just occasionally there is a large enough threat to an big enough industry, that you have shitflinging like this. It does not help that both sides are retarded, where the AI bros are forcing AI into holes where it does not fit while indiscriminately farming data, and the anti AI crowd ignores any and all benefits AI brings and even ignores the fact that a lot of them are already using the benefits of AI software in photography and image editing software.

AI is fine as a tool but it's bad for your brain to let a machine do all of the heavy lifting

It's a tool, just like the unreal engine.
If your making the same boring/generic/default shit as everyone, you're gonna get shat on.

There isn't any skill to it, tweaking prompts to reinforce "high quality" x300000 isn't a skill.

True.
I thought OP meant here on 4chan.
Most gamedev (wether they're artist or devs or whatever) use AI.

>>723110681
Well there is. And some people are getting really good at it. But you have to navigate the endless sea of shitty content to see the real differences. Also, "prompting" isn't the only way to use AI.

Right, there's also text-generative AI that gets confused half-way through a paragraph and is mostly used by Microsoft as a crystal ball even though the underlying technology is just Akinator.

Or there's music-generative AI that has notable tells in its models (very specific string progressions, choices of arpeggio or inappropriate vibrato) and can't be ignored anywhere near as easily as fuzzy or merged fingers in image-generative AI.

Or there's voice-generative AI that Disney really wants so it never has to pay voice actors ever again and never has to find a new voice actor for Mickey Mouse ever again.

Because it's shit, looks like shit and is only used by people who are shit. The fact it's defenders just cry about muh artists instead proves even they don't disagree and just focus on their boogeymen.

But that anon is saying we didn't need it since 2006 when that's clearly not true. Only recently can AI do markerless motion tracking.

Let's solve this with the traditional method: a food analogy! AI is the microwave. It's a convenient and fast tool that can save a lot of time, but if it's noticeable in the finished product that it was used, there's something off about it.

ok then tell blender, Houdini, or any other 3D modeling software to make you a character model and environment assets. It won't, you have to have the knowledge and skills to do it. Even if you think it's easier than real sculpting because it's on a computer, you are still flexing the brain's creative muscle to figure out how to shape a plain base shape such as a sphere into a complex figure, and in doing so you gain knowledge and experience that you can transfer over into other areas of the creative process. With AI it's like having your brain lay in bed all day free from having to think hard. You lose the tone in that creative muscle similar to the physical body atrophying if it were to lay in bed all day.

>>723119795
The way I see it is that AI lets you be more creative because it basically nullifies the time investment required to render art. Your brain atrophies when you struggle from the 900000th time to draw a hand right, it doesn't atrophy when you're actually focusing on the important aspects which are the ideas.
