Why wouldn’t an open world Game of Thrones video game work?

because neither a controller nor a keyboard really allows for the sort of flexibility of motion you'd need to make an open world game without magic feel worth buying from a combat perspective.
Story wise is iffy but seeing as it's GoT they are going to have to be rated A(18+) which not Triple A company will go for. Also you'd probably want Elder Scrolls tier modding capabilities so you can set it whenever.
That said I would absolutely play Stark and take over the North and build tall once i had everything, fuck the south.

The Starks ARE southerners. The TRUE northerners are those found north of the Wall. The king-beyond-the-wall and his wildling host absolutely mog the Starks.

The wildlings are inbred hicks, the southerners are inbred blue bloods, the Starks are probably inbred but at least we know a decent amount about their history that involved them taking over the North.
Honestly i just like building tall with strong borders and mogging everyone else in the late game. The Wildlings can't build tall because they have fuck all resources and they get turbo fucked late game. The Starks are pretty well protected from the North so long as no one gets the horn and the south is canonically damn near impossible to send an army through the neck. The only time we know about a seaborn invasion on the north the invasion vailed and the Starks launched a counter force to burn down the holyland of The Seven.

This map is giving me fucking conniptions. I get I'm severely autistic, but is it really that much effort to consider the etymological history of your names? i could understand plain English names if it wasn't for the fact that this continent has been inhabited for five gazillion years. Did the First Men not name anything and left the Andals to do all the work for them? Zero thought put into it except for medieval pastiche.
