one reason Ground Zeroes existed as a separate entity from the rest of TPP is because it's very classic Metal Gear/Kojima in a lot of ways. that slick intro is so great. nothing in TPP really comes quite close to invoking that some feeling of oh yeah, this is Metal Gear. when you get Metal Gear stuff in TPP it's usually distorted or strange, Sahelathropus is obviously meant to invoke REX but even in firing mode there are differences like the shape, paint job and radome. Skull Face is meant to invoke Revolver Ocelot, their relationship paradoxical in that Skull Face is inspired by Ocelot's depiction in MGS1 and MGS2, but it's actually Ocelot who inherits Skull Face's memes. Kaz is back but he's angry, Ocelot is back but he's stoic and reserved, Huey is back but he's a prisoner and suspect instead of an ally, Liquid is back but he's a child. you could go on.

to be fair you could also read that as Konami not wanting to shell out the money for the rights to the original song. and the Midge Ure version actually came out in 1985 which i think is when the game's narrative is supposed to end but i could be misremembering that detail.
