Good cast of characters, and not just the party. X is the last time Final Fantasy had a almost entirely good cast. Also it's a good story about a son and his dad that had absolutely no sequel.

Great and unique world/atmosphere.
Flawed but likable characters, most of which have character growth.
Fun battle system.
Concice playtime for an RPG, but loads of optional content for those who want more.
Fish out of water done well, and a good pace for story delivery.
