it's okayish but very late game it all collapses into just one actually viable build for every character unless you plan on wasting 10 times the amount of time in each area
then again this is an issue with the genre in general

I enjoyed the varied environments, and Moze is my favorite character to play in the series.

writing is shit, all the new characters suck ass, they turned all the old characters gay and insufferable. liliths writing and the story dependence on her + sirens in general is gay as fuck. they turned an unvoiced protagonist from the first game into essentially a mary sue jesus figure, only gets worse in 4.

gameplay still fun and bl3 is the last "traditional" borderlands game since wonderlands was garbage and it'll all be open world slop from here on out, so enjoy it for that I guess...

I got this gifted and played with 3 friends...
People aren't shitting on the dialogue for no reason it's insane. First game I ever had to mute to play and I never play without sound.

The story itself isn't TOO bad. It's dragged down by the mary sue little kid that they introduce by killing one of the main characters. It's very meme heavy and the humor is super cringe but the bones of the story/villain is fine. What also really holds it back is quests are littered with "go to x and talk to y" repeatedly or trailing dialogue that you have to wait around for as opposed to running off and just getting the content via call like 2/4

As far as gameplay goes, BL's gameplay gets better every new game and only contrarian liars disagree.

I hated every aspect of it; there was no redeeming factor for me. I have zero intentions of getting 4 because I'm sure it's either more of 3, or a "better version" of 3

It's bad. No. I say that as a fan of the series. The Presequel is my favorite in the series. 3 is borderline unplayable, not necessarily because of the gameplay itself, it's fine. Nothing new really.
The story is bad but that's not really the main issue. The real problem is the length of the story, how much time you spend in each zone backtracking for it, and how the radio dialogue never shuts the fuck up for even one second. You can get a quest, drive across the map, complete the objective, and these niggas are still talking about the shit you've already done. It's insufferable.
Again, I'm a fan of the series. The tone and dialogue were never great, but I tolerated and even liked parts of it in prior games. 3 is literally the worst fucking thing ever written. I barely even did any side quests and by the end I was speedrunning just to get it the fuck over. Never played NG+ or the DLC. Just horrendous.

The story was SO fucking bad that it doesn't really make up for the fun VHs and improved gunplay. Actually it's not even about the story itself but how it's told and how long it is. Half the game is running through the ship so Lilith can spend 10 minutes telling you exactly what you just saw.

I found 4’s story to be pretty bad. Every region was just the same thing: meet the good guys, do some shit for them, go kill the bad guys. Every environment is a reused asset shithole, even the Timekeeper’s city for some reason, so there’s no sense of adventure. It’s like a One Piece arc without any of the fun characters and places.
Having skipped 3, I can only pity those who played it if they say 4 is better.

This, its not really that the story/quests in 4 aren't equally as gearbox like, its that there's so few of them. Doing just the main questline for 4 you don't get that much nonsense and there's pretty much silence until you get to where your going.

Where as 3 has gearbox shit EVERYWHERE. Every single part of the game has your radio blasting more garbage. Every tough enemy is called "Silly fart" or some other dumb memey name. The villains being literally the incarnation of ironic observation non stop observing everything you do and talking about it is just garbage. I tried to play 3 with a modded voice line skip button and it doesn't help. The quests/enemies/locations are all still just engrossed in this filth.
