build your own instead of using a prebuilt?

the beauty of pc building is you are in charge of the prices. you dont have to buy from retailer. go on facebook market, ebay, aliexpress, amazon, newegg, forums, reddit, etc. people are selling hardware everywhere and sometimes cheap as fuck because "I want to get rid of it ASAP".

By not being poor? Also PCs tend to have a longer shelf life than consoles. I built my most recent rig three years ago and hardware hasn't improved at all to warrant upgrading anything for another five years probably, at least. Meanwhile, the PC I used prior to that still works quite well, if being a bit dated for new titles. But, it still plays older games just fine so I have it plugged into my TV for couch gaymen.

Consoles have Payed online.
PS+ alone will cost you 560 $ over 7 years.

Personally you can get a decent PC for much cheaper than 2000$ if you buy smart.
A CPU/Ram/Mobo Combo that will outperform even the PS6 will cost you like a 1000$ and then you can get a 4070 super for 500$.
And in 7 years when the Ps6 comes out you can just get a new GPU for 500$ and probably be fine for the next 6 years.

>decent setup
>4k

First of all, you're retarded. Most of those PCs will struggle with many games in 4k because 4k is a fucking stupid meme and nobody actually plays in it.

Two, don't buy prebuilts. You can save hundreds. If you MUST have one built for you, at least pick the parts yourself, many retailers let you build your own PC and they assemble it. Those overpriced pieces of shit in your pic will have stupid shit on them that you don't need like 4tb drives or 1200w psus, ricer fans, etc.

And three, a good (not top of the line) high end PC nowadays will run you about 1000~ bucks retail. If you build it yourself and deal-hunt, could probably get one made for somewhere around 500-800-ish. Which is the same ballpark of consoles, consoles that have 0.01% of the games that PC has access to, and that become useless in 2 years maximum.

I upgrade my PC every 5 years. And that's upgrades, not buying a new one. You do the maths.
There is no reason to own a console these days unless you're a literal child, and more and more developers are having PC ports/versions on release and this will only increase.

You can only play games on consoles that the Manufacturer decided you are allowed to play.
PC gets to play almost everything.
I can play the latest games or i can play 15+ year old titles and download texture/lighting mods for free that make the game looks better than any remaster.
I am literally playing Chrono Trigger Guild Wars 2 FFXVI Forza 5 and Shape of Dreams right now.
And planing on Playing Half-life Alyx and Enderal next.
All while playing some SFVI and Granblue Versus on the side or occasionally jerking it to VR porn games.

Can your PS5 do the same?

I get that PCs offer more value since they are multifunctional, but if you bought a PS5 in 2020 for $499 and decided to upgrade (which isn’t fully necessary btw) to a PS5 Pro for $700 or $750 whatever it is in your area you can still sell/trade your ps5 for $300+. $500 for 5+ years and an additional $350 if you really wanted to add some extra features. You’re still out ahead either way on price unless you use used pc parts (and if we are doing that a used PS5 is less at around $300).

>PC has literally dozens of thousands of exclusives.
Essentially just the older games though, and maybe a couple of modern indies. In that case, OP doesn't need to pay much for the computer parts.
I personally consider PC gaming to be a meme nowadays since it actually suffers from a lack of exclusives that make the investment in higher-tier components to be worth it. A console like the Switch has been a better choice during this decade for me.
>Good luck emulating even PS1 games on your phone, let alone anything above it. Let alone actually having them be enjoyable with touch controls and a small screen.
Duckstation runs fine on Android, and PPSSPP suffered compatibility issues until early 2023. Even then, a mid-tier phone from 2020 can emulate these games fine.
In case you complain about the small screen and touch controls, a Bluetooth controller and HDMI/USB cable does the trick.

That's not an 'optional upgrade', that's literally the only thing the machine is designed to do, give you a stable, plug-and-play experience, and it can't do that, because console games have zero standards and will just instead continue to consume and spend money.

If the "dogshit console" can have access to a gigantic amount of games that most often play virtually the same as on PC, then yes it was overall a better investment in my opinion.
And yes, exclusives aren't the sole things that count as videogames but my point was ultimately more how OP doesn't need to spend a shitload on high-tier computer parts since there aren't anything that warrant those.

Except they don't, and on PC they are literally free and perform better at a higher resolution and have mods. If the paid option is quite literally the same or worse than the free one, how is that a better investment? Even Nintendo knows this which is why instead of making better products they spend the bare minimum on their hardware and games and just aggressively sue instead. Second part is just your opinion, but I personally like having much higher fidelity and frame rates and the endless freedom and backwards compatibility that come with owning a PC.

Okay.
Enjoy paying for your PS5, plus hundreds in extra services and games, and then having to upgrade it in the next year because it can no longer run new games above 10 fps.

It's precisely because you're a PC gamer that you have no idea how hard consoletards are getting scammed.
They're essentially doing the same song and dance we are of having to upgrade the GPU, except they have to do it every year because unlike us, they have no access to video settings or mods, or overclocking, or a million other things.

I don’t think that’s true. Maybe struggle to hit 60fps, but 30? Even unoptimized games like monster hunter wilds runs well over that in balanced and performance mode. Sure, if you want fidelity mode it’s going to prob have to get a Pro. I was very happy with MHW personages on my PS5 Pro. How does that game run on five year old pc hardware? Did you ever actually played non switch versions of those games?
Even if by some miracle you dont mind ps3 era graphics its still games running at barely 30 fps.
And its only a select few titles the developers managed to downgrade enough so they run on the thing.
I had to Mod my switch so i could remove the under-clock Nintendo forces on the console to preserve battery life just so i could play Astral Chain and XenoBalde 2 at stable 30 fps docked as the under-clock also affect's the console in docked mode and restoring the orignal tegra clock speeds has minimal impact on temperatures like 2-5 C at best while still way below max safe temps.

I honestly hate these goddamned aquarium cases. They're fucking everywhere and they exist solely for streamers. Ugly as sin. No, I will not be sticking a giant fucking decal on my PC, are you serious?

>Good luck emulating even PS1 games on your phone, let alone anything above it.
I was emulating PS1 on my cheap ass entry level Samsung phone like a decade ago with little to no performance issues. I'd be highly surprised if decent new phones are not capable of gen 6 emulation at least.

im going to own a pc for other things besides gaming and a decent one is going to be around 1,000usd anyway.
a game console these days is 500-700.
you can build the pc on your own during holiday sales and get the prices to match.
If you are playing at 1080p you can save a lot of money.
if you are playing on a TV from far away at 60 fps, you can save a lot of money

yes probably but it'll be a serious generational uplift based on how well the halo performs. The miniaturization of graphics will probably get to the the point of efficiency where handheld gaming isn't a fucking 2 hour meme within the next couple years if the entire personal computing industry doesn't collapse
