Necesse 1.0 release
Necesse 1.0 just got released. It's basically a top down Terraria and it has a 94% score on Steam.

I was thinking about making a thread about it. I bought it during the summer sale but was waiting to try it until 1.0.
Looking forward to it tonight. Might buy a copy for a friend.
>>723412310
I've heard people compare it more to a top-down Terraria with some Stardew/HM elements. I guess Corekeeper has those elements too though. I haven't tried it in ages either.

How mandatory is the settlement system? I care more about exploration and finding shit than I do managing towns.
Anonymous No.723412663 [Report]
Cool, I tried it a few years ago. It had promise.
I tried it a few months ago and the UI was an instant turn-off. I don't remember what specifically, just that it sucked. Maybe it's better now.

Are multiple bases viable/desirable in this game?
Any game that has base building and deserts, I absolutely must design a desert base/settlement in. I just must. If I can't do deserts, I have to be able to do a snowy tundra type mountainous area.

I was having a lot of fun up until I beat the earlygame boss that's digging a big tunnel around the starting area. I thought it was really creative how they incorporated it as an environmental hazard and was very disappointed that they didn't keep going in that direction barring the lategame WoF type boss.
The progression/exploration component felt really samey after that and then they also throw the same snake and slime reskin bosses at you over and over which sucked.
Anonymous No.723424386 [Report]
>>723411803 (OP)
Played the early access version and did not like it. Building the village was really pointless as you could only get low level rescources from it. The combat was eh. No real reason to go out of your way to explore the world.
Terraria is better.
I would like to deem this game the unfortunate title of "slop"!
I will be looking forward to Everwind instead. Looks like Minecraft + First person dungeon crawler but with AIRSHIPS so you have a mobile base you can always take with you. Let's see if that one will be good or just turn out to be slop too.
Anonymous No.723425803 [Report] >>723426949
How is this game? I pretty much only played Rimworld. I've played a bit of Terraria and enjoyed it but it never really got it's claws in me like Rimworld did. I already bought it because it's $7 and you can't even get fastfood for that so if I end up not liking it no harm no fowl ya know?

It's meh and I would suggest trying to get into Terraria again. You definitively have the skills for Terraria if you could beat Rimworld.

I gave it about 30 minutes and was thinking "meh" as you mentioned. Again $7 is basically nothing so nothing lost.

It is nothing like Rimworld. It shares nothing in common with Rimworld except building a settlement. NPCs do some automation, that's not just a trait of Rimworld though.

Yes. Exploration is more akin to Terraria as far as "finding interesting shit", but progression isn't as rigid, and you can upgrade whatever equipment you like as far as character builds goes.

Audiovisuals are good, but the game itself is like a babby first exploration/crafting game (if everyone haven't tried Minecraft already). If you are a casual and the only similar game you've played before is Stardew Valley, sure, go ahead, play Core Keeper. Anyone looking for interesting things or a challenge should steer clear though.

Just play whatever you want. Last I played was a melee build but my summoner friend racked up some crazy DPS in the end and another with a mage build was also pretty strong. I'd say gun was the weakest out of them all but that might be because we didn't have any gun users in our group.

in terraria, resource grinding (including money for reforging mods with the goblin dude) was retarded, so i decided to just duplicate things.
put resource in chest
save world
copy world file to another folder
load world
remove resource from chest into character inventory (because world save and character save are different)
close world
paste old world file to rewrite the official save
resource is now in your inventory and back in the chest.

you can do this as many times as you want. you can dump your inventory into the chest, copy THAT save, and duplicate from the bigger stack. doubling things adds up very quickly. make 1 potion and you're set for life by duplicating; you'll never have to worry about harvesting rare/random herbs. get like 50 of a building material, and you have 999 in no time. want to redo a raid/boss, just duplicate the summoning item as many times as you want. all you need is to find 1 heart/star statue, and you'll have as many as you could ever want.
