Controller for PC Gaming
My old ass controller i've been using for a long time is finally dying, now i gotta get a new one

should i just get an Xbox Series controller? or is there a better third-party one i can get for that price? I've seen some 8bitdo ones that look neat, but what do yall recommend
Anonymous No.723448281 [Report] >>723448881
I got 8BitDo Ultimate 1 and 2 since they work on PC and Switch/2.
They're pretty good. If you're into macros and paddles and shit this would probably be a good way to go.
The dpad on the 2 is a little mushy though, false diagonals like the Switch Pro if you're familiar.
Series X controller is good too. I'd honestly just tell you to go with personal preference or whatever is cheaper.

I've been rocking gulikit kingkong2 pro for the last 3 years and I have no reason to replace it, but if I were, I'd probably just get the latest kingkong max or whatever it's called.

I've been using a Razer Wolverine Ultimate for the last 3 years, and it's been solid. Reviews mention stick drift, but I've not experienced it myself. Got it for 150 back in the day, now it goes for around 70. Overall really solid, even if it is a bit small.

I will try pic related when TT Pro is out. I'll also order the Pro 3.

PC controllers I've liked are Shanwan Q38, SN30 Pro, Tegeneria, ES Pro, and FANTECH Switch controller.

Skip the Q38 if you need to use the right stick with any dexterity.

I have the 3 current generation controllers and overall it's the best one
better left stick position than the PS5's
dpad is very clicky but compared to the switch pro's awful dpad anything is better
analog triggers and it simply works out of the box

I actually like the dpad, when I was researching controlers I watched a lot of videos but a ton of reviewers are very superficial talking to what mostly amounts to vibes for the most part especially for the dpad

I play a lot of 2D games so this was pretty important to me and eventually I found a guy which had a little NES Contra test when he reviewed gamepads and he tested things out for accidental diagonals

I like my dpad inputs to be a bit more "distinct" instead of that vagueness some dpads have to "smooth" the transition out between one direction to the next, I suppose it's a matter of personal preference, but maybe someone reading this could get a better idea on how it lands and makes a better decision for it at least

what I didn't like is the feel of the dpad its like very mushy and I find really hard make constant diagonals but thats just personal preference, if I really want to play a 2d game I just use the dualsense

yeah that's pretty fair, I tried my had at some Silksong speedrunning for fun, nothing competitive just to spice up my steel soul attempts, and there is some constant pogos especially early on for faster movement, so a ton of diagonals and yeah I did end up messing up some of them, same thing for some combat situations, maybe you need to diagonal right then quickly diagonal left and I found myself messing that up sometimes as well, I know there's a skill issue component to this as well but I can totally understand how the gamepad could affect things too, dualsense really does have a great dpad yeah, kind of a shame how there's always one compromise or another with gamepads

With that said, mine shat the bed when the USB output stopped working, very much fixable which is something I intend to do.
Currently using the 8Bit controller (not sure which one) and one of the main reasons why I got it due to the fact that it's compatible with Switch/PC, and hall effect.

Any game with a lazy camera that doesn't automatically orient itself, especially if the game doesn't use tank controls.
Movement is often relative to camera controls, so better camera controls equate to better movement.
Claw grip is often used in games that aren't shooters, because the controller's ergonomics fundamentally aren't suited for them.

Series x is by far the best (1st party) controller this gen. It just works and feels so damn nice to hold. They're still the only company who can make comfortable triggers unlike for example Sony who for 5 gens now still can't manage it. For 3rd party controllers look for something which has 1000hz polling via wireless and Hall effect/TMR tech in the sticks and triggers. Mechanical buttons exist if you really need them.

all of them are fine honestly as long as they're either wired or using their own wireless transceiver. Bluetooth tends to have latency but that might be addressed in newer iterations of the protocol. i got an xbox controller but i won't be bothered with using the wireless dongle so i just have it BT connected and i think there's a bit of discernable latency when playing fastpaced games, but it's not painful unless you're autistic.

What do you count as a shooter? Because the majority of games have gameplay where you launch some sort of projectile in the direction you're aiming. Do those all count as shooters?

It seems they're getting ready to launch the Frame and it's likely the SC2 will release alongside/with it.

Have you ever used a Deck? Because it's genuinely comfy as hell. Easily the most comfortable handheld I've ever touched and up there among all controllers, and the SC2 is basically just a Deck without the screen. The thumbsticks are in the perfect position for your finger and the trackpads don't get in the way at all.

If you can afford it get a Dualsense, the HD rumble is legit a fucking awesome feature for games that use it properly, and gyro aim is awesome with Steam Input

I genuinely hate to shill it.
But my game saar with hall of effect sticks has been doing well for the last few months.
Will only know in a year or so if it's truly going to last. But so far so good.

The skill issue is needing a machine to aim for you because you're too afraid you'll get beaten if you have to actually aim for yourself.

Literally no reason not to get the series xbox controller. If you want a specific colour then you can use design lab but it will be +10 bucks or just look at amazon and look which official controllers are on sale to like 40 bucks for unpopular colours.

there isn't any official support just like on windows, if you are asking about a DS4Windows equivalent i just use Steam, if the game isn't on steam you can add it as a steam game, there are probably other alternatives but i haven't bothered finding them when its that easy with steam

Haptics and triggers are barely supported, but the trackpad is highly versatile. Use it as a mouse for faster camera control or menuing, or simply for extra binds since touch or swipe in different directions gives you a good 8 extra binds to work with.

Same, the grip is perfect, the d-pad is also perfect, the only problem it has is the buttons being too noisy but it's because it uses high quality switches so I got over it. Great controller.

Touchpad -> Output Mode -> Mouse in DS4Windows, then it just works without any additional input
I'd imagine there's a way to do it via Steam Input since the Steam Controller had them too, but I haven't messed with that myself

get something thats made specifically to have a solution or easily fix incase of stick drift. I replaced 2 ps5 controllers so far. Xbox apparently had shit problems too and nobody is having better parts for sticks so every new controller has this problem eventually

I would go with the Elite if QC wasn't abysmal. I bought two v1 and two v2. The first v1 was/is insanely sturdy. I used it for every game 6 hours a day for 5 years. The rubber grip came off in 6 months but not other issues. Still werks. When the sticks didn't feel as snappy (no drift issues) I bought another. Drift in 3 months. Elite 2? Face buttons faulty out of the box, bumpers die in a few months. I don't mind spending and the underside pads are the most comfortable I ever had but FUCK Xbox. This is not even lottery anymore (one of my two Series controllers was also faulty out of the box). I bought a third party EasySMX for $55 and it feels extremely similar to the standard Xbox controller except it has underside buttons, gyro, a built in (albeit small) battery and the buttons never miss.
I'm at that point where I rather try my luck with third parties than hoping I get a good Xbox controller.
