It's because this is market research shit. They're primarily interested in maintaining their own job security, which means that the surveys and market research they conduct are done so that they produce the results that keep them employed and generate more work for themselves and their colleagues.
The logical answer would be to find a good base that qualifies as a bland default and build up from that with a few traits, but that doesn't splinter out into more market research and consultant work in the same way that hyperspecific diversity would.
