Sims 3 probably, but the overall DLC-ification of the last 3 games since Sims 2 is the worst one. Maxis was shut down so now they're milking Sims 4 for all its worth because they don't really have the original people for making any Sim game (including Simcity) anymore

Sim 4 got a ton of hate for deciding to go in a more stylized direction but the more time passes, the more that decision has been vindicated. (removing the open world is still fucked tho)

Removing the open world was necessary because it caused really big technical difficulties for Sims 3. The game would stop processing everything because a Sim somewhere out there got stuck and it was working to get it out and it'd do this multiple times per day, and the loading times became so abysmal as they added more DLCs that they added a loading screen minigame to pass the time with.

I love how the first game is a time capsule of the late 90s/2000. It felt comfortable in a sort of way I can't describe.
