I'm getting filtered by the first boss in Portrait of Ruin. This shit controls like absolute ass and I can't handle it. How does SotN that came out before it feel way better to control?

I like Lords of Shadow 1 because it's a classic God of War clone.

Are you upgrading your subweapons? Using knife/axe/holy water/cross on enough candles, enemies, and their projectiles will spawn up to two upgrades.

I should have read the manual. No I've only been using my whip on them.
Anonymous No.723508483 [Report] >>723508878
>>723507652
Yeah, subweapons are a lifesaver in Castlevania games. Guarantee you'll have an easier time if you try to level them up (to III, the max)

Another tip: the whip's hitbox is larger than it looks and can hurt enemies that are half of Simon's height. For example, I think the panthers on stage 1 get destroyed by it without you needing to crouch.

I tried that Wolf Chronicles game but I didnt like it because it was too much like Castlevania. I dont know if that makes sense. I am okay with inspiration but this is like a carbon copy. Feels like I already played it because its so similar.

It lets you have more than one subweapon projectile on the screen. If you die to Death, you can get a cross and upgrade it and just spam it to delete all his sickles.

L2 to fly, like in Armored Core for Answer. Pulled to ascend, let out to drop, somewhere around middle neutally boyant in the air.

2D pixel art. Elaborate! None repedative unless better by that. Even brickwork unique each. Look at everything.

Any artist. People, PC, artificial, animal. Paintings of an elephant count. Made better and to suit.

L1 to teleport to the best place to attack. Pressed twice, thrice etc teleports to different enemies stunning them.

Hundreds on screen. "Bullet hell" avoid touching them or hurting them.

R2 weapon. Random which. Changing every 3 seconds.
Whip
Sword
Sheild

Used the timer is restarted. So one sword slash at 2 seconds is 3 more seconds of sword.

Each consecutive weapon hit doubles it's damage. Gameplay in taking on multiple enemies, avoiding some friendly or not necessary to attack. Build multiplier as you make your way to a boss that will need it.

Sword hits close fast, anything close: sword hits what's intended to be hit.
Sheild damages around ignorant of which is damaged. The entirety of the enemy attack is applied and multiplied.
Whip makes a line, what's touched is turned on your side. Multiplied is enemies hit hitting another how ever many the multiplier.

R1 to regain health. When pressed world is heavenly. Nove. (Nice).
Everything is your friend.

Later face people who consider you a monster, and your friends monsters too. With only one form: their prey.

See the town around. What is in trouble defended and rescued. What is desirable delivered life to withstand plague. Preserving their perspective.

Use heal to see what might be friend. But in that state see what isn't as absent.

im playing castlevania 3 right now. it's ridiculously hard, but it's fun.
last october i beat bloodlines and sotn. the former and 3 made me realize that rondo (my current favorite) is quite easy for a classicvania. interesting.

Well, no. But they're charming and interesting with some of the level theming. They're worth looking up some play footage just to get a sense of them. It's a shame they're shit because there's a lot of good stuff in there. To me they've always felt like betas for a great game that never happened.
