one of the greatest FPS games of all time is 80% off on steam. (sequels too)

what is your excuse for not playing this gem?
Anonymous No.723520443 [Report]
Because I already did many many times

I used to belong to a internet radio channel called Half-Life Radio, aired sometime around 2004->2006ish timeframe. I stopped helping out after I dropped out of high school, but they were absolutely obsessed with this game, talked about it all the time, fucking played it, it was shit. I made a cheat for the multiplayer when it was popular at the time.

>that gun that is based of a saiga-12 that shoots giant fucking nails and sticks guys to walls.

only 1 of 3 games that have guns that do this, the other 2 being half life 2 and pain killer

lack of controller support is a killer

You can just pirate the XBOX 360 ISO and run it on xenia with controller support. The PSTripple also has an ISO, if you want it to show you PlayStation controls, but the PS3 emulator is shit for most games that are already on PC (Like Fallout New Vegas).

I own the retail version that doesn't need a DRM launcher.

Sorry, I only play arcade-style FPS games (Doom, Serious Sam, etc.).
Anything that involves following a linear script full of set pieces while you get a little scare here and there, I leave to normalfags.

But the retail version has SecuROM which is worse than any modern day launcher.

I enjoyed 3, and since that was the first one I played on PS3, I couldn't really work backwards.
I tried them on PC, but it feels very wonky. Friend suggested a 4k mod, but not sure if it's worth it.
Anyone play them on steam and try out the 4k mod?

But I'm currently playing it, I'm just starting Interval 3 of Perseus Mandate. The games are overrated though, there's almost no enemy variety, almost all of the enemies are reskinned soldiers, almost no supernatural encounters worth mentioning and fighting through offices and basements gets old after a while. Still pretty fun, but I was getting burned out during Extraction Point. Pic related is my new favorite weapon.

I tried all of the patches and workarounds I could, but my game kept freezing at the start of "The L". I had to delete my saves, lower my settings to Medium, start a new game and skip levels, meaning I lost all my upgrades, until reaching that one again so I could finally complete it and proceed with the game as normal.

why would you buy this from steam

you gain nothing from buying a 2005 non-valve game on steam and your money does not go to anyone who worked on it. just pirate the DRM-free version.

Anonymous No.723522989 [Report]
my biggest issue is the "hardest" difficulty is not hard anymore, and some areas feel sloggy.

still love the game overall though

I'm already playing it, got it on gog years ago for a buck. Forget how spongie those penetrator soldiers are.

I regret not playing it more but 2005 was around the time when I started playing online PvP and games like CS: source and battlefield just happened to get my attention first.

how did slow mo work in MP ? like did 2 guys have to lock in and then activate at the same time ?

Slow motion actually makes the game less fun and too piss easy.
