Why do old guys completely fail to accept when its time to retire from pvp? nobody stays young forever and its going to come for all of us. The day i hit 25 and the decline wall hits i'm just going to play other genres that i'm still able to go full speed on and enjoy myself rather than become a farmed mob for younger players and sit there malding about my own declining skill as though its other peoples fault.

My aim is better at 33 than ever before. I'm like a god amongst children in Marvel Rivals. It helps that no one knows how to play the game but I already have 1000s of hours on team shooters. Yeah, I feel bad playing against mostly zoomers but I have like 50% accuracy on Hela.

I’m 28 and better at games now than I ever have been. I started learning new genres and games in my mid 20s and have ended up with some gaming accomplishments in the last year or two that are far more difficult than anything I’ve done up to this point. I’m sure within the next ten years my raw skills will start to wane, but in my experience I’ve only gotten better throughout my 20s, and really don’t think the decline is going to be as drastic as some people think.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the peak is actually late 20s, because your reaction time should be barely degraded if at all, and you should be far better at pattern recognition and analysis since you have a lot more experience with learning games

And no, when I start to feel a cognitive decline coming on from aging, I’m not going to stop playing the games I wanna play. I don’t care if I become worse at them eventually, I’ll still enjoy trying to improve

But you arent wrong, around 23 I realized not only was i not going to be some sort of pro, i also realized the more effort i put into it the more my brain went.

then i got a small business started, made some money, hired some crackheads and illegals.
Girlfriend got pregnant with triplets so i had to get married.
Its weird like im 30 i can work all night long, sleep for 2-3 hours, go workout, and then help my wife stay sane.

But i tried bf6 and i got zero energy and im dogshit. I do enjoy strategy games alot now though they have a pause button so i can go do shit

i shit on zoomies whenever a new game comes out and quickly climb up to higher ranks, but i just dont have it in me to stick around and sweat much after that. too many hobbies, too many people and too many goals

I'm 35 and I still whip the shit out of zoomers. I expect I'll actually never have to retire, because the generation below zoomers and assumedly every generation to follow after, are raised on phones/tablets and shitty mobile games so they actually are abysmally shit at actual video games, if/when they do get around to ever playing them

I'm not sure how true that'll even be. Like there are people in their 40s winning races out there. I know fighting games aren't as mechanical or reaction heavy as shooters but lots of pro players for that are in their 40s too.
