I wish Smash Bros. was closer to Mario Kart, with only Mario characters and the occasional guests.
Having Rosalina, Waluigi, Koopa Troopa, maybe even Mouser or Tatanga and stuff like that would be much better than Marth and Fox and Captain Falcon

I would have happily vouched for a Mario Smash game over Smash Bros. as it is now. The gameplay alone sets it apart if a traditional fighter was too risky for Mario (Sonic the Fighters proved it wasn't, dumbass SoA) and you could really lean on all parts of Mario.

Instead of putting other Nintendo characters in, it should have just been a Mario game with Link as a guest like Iwata or Sakurai intended and only Link as the sole guest. Maybe do a special game with Mario and Sonic characters after the Olympic Games, but no more than that.
