How to Identify video game shills?
>go online, pretty much any one of them nowadays to find opinions about a game
>filled to the brim with dishonest paid shills, brainless brand fanboys who would eat up everything their favourite devs made and trolls who tries to make people buy the worst games possible for shit and giggles
How can I identify actual good games in modern days?

Yes. Watch a couple minutes of gameplay on youtube and make up your own mind if it'ssomething you'll enjoy. Stop letting people tell you what to think about a game.

I think shill discourse is one of the worst things that has ever happened to /v/. Almost as bad as the /pol/nigger infestation.

Treating people that "shill" a game as fanboys and merely arguing about why that game sucks or is not to your interest is much higher quality than shill accusations.

To put it bluntly, I believe that even if a poster is an actual shill, he is still higher quality than the people that shit up threads to bitch about shills.

Agreed about the thread shitter part but sometimes the fanboyism is just so flagrant youd think /v/ doesnt have a rule that prohibits that exact thing

The current obvious example to me is the guy that is obsessed with Bloodlines 2 and defends it every step of the way, but I still think he's more high quality than the people that just go "SHILL SHILL SHILL"

It should be easy to say why a game isn't to your taste, why you're not interested in it, etc and move on. Why do we pretend /v/'s catalog is so valuable that we must guard it against positive opinions of games? If anything, it's the opposite. Negativity is cheap.

I genuinely thinks shills are better then witchhunters-at least they actually cares about video games.
But it is still frustrating when you want genuine opinion or criticism and people just gives you the most reddit fanboy takes ever

If someone disagrees with you, they're a shill.

I've been saying this shit since 2008. Shills are better posters than anti-shills.

No. I just gave a terminal case of the dumb and misread the actual question as something like "Is it possible" blahblah.

I dislike shills that try to be marketing with 4chan words. Just a personal preference. And you can voice criticisms of a product while still praising it. Switch 2 for example still cannot boot up Chrono Cross. I dislike that. I still think the system is neat for what it is.

There aren't any "shills" on /v/. Everyone here is speaking their own truth.

I feel like people get so caught up in sales numbers and player count watching like they're watching stocks in Wall Street, outrage baiting with political/nonsensical garbage and a general pessimistic post-irony culture poisoning that has shaped a lot of the internet as a whole that ANYTGING positive is seen as shilling and shat on for no legitimate reason. Like, there's big difference between people gushing over single player indie games with niche appeal and shit like that astroturfed BG3 v. Starfield campaign.
