DMC
I've never played DMC, what's the best one to start with? Should I play the original first or can I jump into 5 without having played the others.

you can either start with dmc 1 or dmc 3, then you can play the others.
3 is basically the prequel of 1 so it's an ok starting point.

Play 1, then 3, then 4 and 5. Just skip 2 and don't play the team ninja dmc reboot.

5 is fine honestly and maybe the most zoomer accessible

Play in series order.
3 feels even better if you stomach 2 first.

every semi pro DMC player I’ve met starts with the 2nd game so you can build a base for your skills then work your way up

Release order you nigger. 5 basically features plots and characters from every game except 2. Hell, even the old anime from the 2000s gets a cameo but it's more of an easter egg so you don't really have to bother with it.

Play them in order. Skip 2 if you want.

just play in release order if you actually want to experience the series. if you just want to play the best one, play 3. if you just want to experience what the bury the light memes are from, play 5. if you enjoy pure dogshit, play 2. 4 is a fine game but really the worst starting point from any angle you approach it.

If you're not a faggot who cries like a bitch from older games not having a camera controlled with the right stick then go for DMC1. The best way would be to emulate the original PS2 version as the HD Remaster is fucked visually.
Then you can move to DMC3. In this case the best version depends on what experience you'd like to have. PS2 Special Edition is good enough all things considered, the first PC port is fucked up beyond repairs and even with all the fan fixes it may crash randomly. HD Collection on any platform is fine, I guess, and you can give it more tweaks and quality of life improvements (that may break difficulty balance) using DMC3 Crimson mod.
Then DMC4. Special Edition if you want to replay as some other characters and/or use newer consoles. With PC it depends on whether you want to launch the game on a potato or not, as the OG DMC4 on PC has a god-tier optimization.
And then DMC5 for good measure. Special Edition is console-only, btw. Also, you can try DmShit and DMC2 afterwards if you're curious enough.

Ninja theory, not team Ninja
