about 5 hours in when I realized my build already trivialized the game and the procedural generated maps were incredibly fucking boring to traverse through.

Played Mercenaries for like 3 weeks. Ripped awakenened multi and awakened englighten, and gambled up to 3 mirrors and quit after I got my 36/40

ARPG games not only require 1000 hours on practice / laboratory mode but also an almost equally long time of off-game research
>Analyzing and memorizing mechanics
>memorizing wikias and PoB
>watching, studying and analyzing streamers
>Hunting, reading and memorizing blogs and essays made by ARPG experts.
But even if you do all of the above you won't be able to play unless you have "the gift".
"The gift" is basically having the mental speed to be able to
>React to the enemy's action
>Analyze the current situation
>Evaluate your options
>Execute the optimal action, which can be something as simple as a Flask or something as a complex as a logout macro
On a time frame of 1/60 of a second, basically 18 milliseconds, with an error margin of 54ms. We're talking about a genre where positive and negative edge (the time a button takes to go from the press to the electric circuit inside the button / controller being closed, and the time it takes from the button being released to the button being back to its neutral state) are very important and taken into account.

So playing ARPG games are the closest in real life to a shonen protagonist having to survive years of hellish superhuman training but only managing to become powerful because he possess the innate power required to actually put said training to use.

you have to play the maps 10000 times for an item that has 0.01% chance to drop from an enemy that only spawns 1% of the time with a 0.0001% chance of rolling good stats

One week into the endgame. I went back when act 4 was released, but I couldn't play a mage/warrior skeleton build anymore, so I stopped again. I'll wait until the last act.

I played on and off for a few years. Each league I usually get to about yellow/red maps then get bored. Never really killed all uber bosses or anything like that.

Once I hit a wall that requires me to get a shit ton of currency to overcome I call it quits.
Anonymous No.723738297 [Report] >>723739617
only takes 2-3 weeks to ssf 40/40 then I try out a couple builds that look interesting and move on until the next league.
Anonymous No.723738460 [Report]
with 1, I played through it, then unlocked scion, then beat it again then stopped, well before they split shit up as much as they later did.
With 2 I played up through the end of act 2 and just stopped because my entire build (Chaos monk) had an ascendancy that made my build LESS viable, it left such a sour taste in my mouth I asked for a refund, they denied, I charged my money back and got banned.

Act 5.

Generic dogshit game and extremely retarded gameplay. D2 is just a better game but D2 is old. Also POE2 is a better game but barely.

You have to legit be a fucking loser to enjoy these games.

>+300 hours
>still have no idea wtf most crafting options do or how they work
>get to end game
>die almost instantly in low tier maps
There aren't many other games quite like this one. Slowly unraveling new mechanics is the part I love about it the most.

When the optimization became so fucking dogshit my gtx 1050ti could not keep up with juiced maps without frame freezing every time I opened a breach
I don't know what these faggots did in 3.23 but the game runs like shit now

I've bonked extra sockets and augments on a few bits but like in other arpgs i figured there's not much point wasting the resources on stuff now. especially on my necro it's not like im dying at any point of the campaign content.
I'm loving the amount of s t u f f the game has, and I imagine that will expand significantly when i get to endgame. Reason I drop out of a lot of runs in my other arpgs is usually because there's only 1 or 2 things to be pushing on with.
