I hate how neglected South America is in video games. They have cool Gods, mythology, cultures and history. It's always Europe and East asia that gets all the attention. And if it is the New World, it is ONLY about North America and muh indians/cowboys.

You could literally make any type of game, from sports to grand strategy, and it would fit in South America.

Be the change you want to see in the world. There's plenty of games that I would play if they were just clones of good games with a South American skin on it.

Like, there's this retarded idea that anything white colonialists called "evil" was just misunderstood. What was misunderstood by said colonialists, though, was their own capacity for it, not the evil of every other society. For instance, most people would be under the misconception that you would carve out a heart by stabbing someone through their chest, forgetting that the ribs would be in the way or underestimating how hard they'd be to cut through. Mexicas left plenty of paintings and statues showing the priests bending the sacrifice over backwards to take it out through the diaphragm. Fuck, I've been waiting for one of these. Been on a real kick concerning Mesoamerican civilizations lately. I'd highly recommend looking into Rise of Quetzal mod for Medieval 2. It just was released a few months back, and has a large roster on Central American city states. It's basically a much better version of the Americas expansion. Another good game I've been playing is Dawn of Mexica. It's a rougelike set in the Fifth Sun era during the Spanish invasion. The sun has gone out and you're trying to find out why. You can even perform sacrifices and kill that fuckwit Cortez.

I feel like the author has a very caring relationship with Mesoamerican history as well. There's certain civilizations that start with a strangehold on the copper trade, and as a result can make better weapons, and thus become a large target for other states in the surrounding region. If anything the later Aztecs were a massive city state with influence that spanned throughout a large portion of North and Central America. There's evidence of trade networks spanning all the way to the West Coast. That's why you sometimes find Aztec artifacts with sea shells that are only native to California or even as far north as Oregon. I feel like most people don't understand how highly organized most indigenous populations were in Pre-Colombus America. You can cross pretty vast distances without a horse if you have the proper transportation methods and a general idea of the terrain ahead.

You know what I found recently that was interesting? Recent research shows only half of the North American tribes came from the Bering Land bridge while the eastern tribes showed more genes that were only shared with some pre-European but European precursor groups seemingly pointing towards the second landbridge theory being true. I wonder if that accounts for the western tribes being a lot more savage. Still got nothing on why the central and southern tribes were as barbaric as they were. As for the building of actual civilizations or things resembling civilization I believe the only reason the central tribes were able to get as far as they did was they were basically fighting each other on a very small piece of land relative where pressures pushed for mock civilization while the North and South tribes were in areas so vast and large there was essentially no pressure to select for or develop civilizations barring the Mississippi.
