I like the gameplay loop Arceus and this have going. For Arceus it was make preparations at the hub town/accept sidequests > go to one of the areas > catch Pokémon and do research tasks/complete sidequests > get your evaluation and rewards > go back to the hub town, reap your sidequest rewards and repeat. For ZA it's go to new Wild Zones to catch Pokémon by day > accept and do sidequests > explore roofs and back alleys for hidden Pokémon, items and mega crystals > swing by the Battle Zones by night to train and get your promotion ticket and money > get the night-only spawns in Wild Zones > do the promotion battle and proceed to daytime, all the while doing the research tasks that require both catching and training.
It's a lot tighter and more thoughtful than the main games. I didn't hate SV but it felt very haphazardly put together in terms of game design. It had no sidequests despite the huge world, the level curve was almost random and your ride Pokémon's upgrades were tied to specific titans even though you really should've got the running and climbing right away.
