I'm so tired of modern AAA """RPGs""" that this game not only disappoints me but it pisses me off. There are barely any RPG elements, just as with Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 (good game but yeah), modern Fallout, Skyrim or any other recent release like pic related.

I have played games like Fallout New Vegas or Bloodlines to exhaustion and I just want a recent new release that at least tries to come close to those titles in terms of role playing mechanics and writing, but every time the devs just ignore the fact that they are supposed to be making an RPG so I won't even bother to play their linear action FPS shit.

I yearn for the day when somebody breaks this curse upon the genre and actually tries to focus on role playing

Played around 2 hours on my gtx 3070
Even though I could maintain 60 on high it felt very stuttery maybe framepacing is bad.
Story so far bored me to death and the city seems very dead, almost nothing to do.

also by deleting the launcher folder from the game folder I was able to launch the game directly without installing the launcher, so thats nice I guess.

So I spent a couple of hours and got to the first Fabien part.
It’s… eh? I mean it’s not offensively bad, combat is janky but better than vtmb’s was let’s be real. Unlocked a couple of lasombra skills and it looks like every discipline is just combat focused.

The dialogues are more than Yes/Yes(Sarcastic)/Yes(more money) and if Fallout can be called an RPG then so is this. There is some sort of relationship meter and you have to feel it out for good and bad. The game tells you this will matter. We’ll see if it actually matters.

Mostly things just feel a bit dead. Interiors are long hallways with a couple of enemies. Findables unlock some journal entry I dunno if they do more (like can I use the knowledge gained to influence events?). I had a couple of clan specific lines so far.

I actually liked Swansong even though it was jank as fuck and had no combat. Disciplines could be used to do more things and there was some resource management of blood points. Environment finds could unlock shit and lead to new dialogue options/solutions. That’s what I want out of RPGs really, reward me for going the extra mile or thinking about outcomes. VTMB2 could fall short of that pretty low bar.

I will buy. I can't wait to play Malkavian, my favourite clan!

So, your Ventrue prince is a gigaponce, every Brujah is a raging anarchist, Andrei is the most Tzimisce Tzimisce ever and so on. It also works, because the game doesn't take itself seriously.
But on the tabletop, your clan is more of a suggestion. Nobody is forbidding you from making a brawler Tremere or an intellectual Gangrel - that's exactly why Beckett is so popular. Or you can totally have a level-headed, philosophical Brujah if you can justify it well enough.
