Because they are awesome and they provide me with many good experience and good things.

Many games with a good story or memorable character have left a mark on me, changing me for the better. I also love a challenge in games, some of the things that i achieved makes me feel accomplished and proud of my feats.

I've met many people through online games, some that i still have a friendship to this day, years and years later. I've also reconnected with a childhood friend after meeting him in an online game. I've also met my best friend because of our shared interest in games.

So, yeah... Videogames are AWESOME! I love them.

because i have been playing vidya since i was 2 years old (almost 3). All my life i had a controller in my hands. Also because i was a pretty sickly child (still i'm a sickly adult). So my only entertainment was books and vidya (i hated tv).

It's not too different from what you probably already do here with your /v/ros, you spend time together and have shared interests. And you do that because it's fun and you want to, not because of some obligation.

If you haven't IRL friends and you do not frequent social places where you can possibly meet people with shared interests, online games can be a good place to meet people. MMO games are good for that. It will not always be a perfect experience, but you can definitely meet good friends if you look for it.
