One of the best modern wrpgs absolutely tainted by how bad the trannys are in the community. Dev bent the knee instead of standing on what was very clearly written in the game. I'm not sure why troons constantly latch onto MALE characters who were FORCED to crossdress as a child. Happened with Bridget too.

Downpour with its rainbow slugcat OCs threw the door wide open for people who won't even play the game, but who love engaging in Tumblr-esque fandom culture.

It breaks my heart bro. Somehow the high art of this game should've attracted life denying buddhists and schizo tech accelerationists and mindbroken psychonauts. It deals with the core problem of life and death repeating in a precise and beautiful way. When I finished the game and went online to see what people thought about the world and the art I was stunned to realise that the "community" was comprised of tens of thousands of uWu-core animal fuckers making cooing noises over their "slugcat" designs and harping over various soulless mechanical challenges, completely, completely missing the point of the game. I can't even imagine how the creators must feel, watching these SSRI poisoned ghouls rip apart their creation and build plushie toys out of it. It's literally the best game ever made, if you can call it it.

The least most interesting part about RW vanilla is the slugcats. You could change them out with literally anything and nothing about the game would change. I wish I had a time machine so I could warn Joar about the consequences of adding a semi-furry creature as the game's playable character.
>>723889595 put it perfectly, thank you.

>>723889393
>>723889570
This, desu. The game lost its original artistic merit when it made slugcut donut steel characters as the focal point of its world and gameplay. Vanilla was so amazing because you were merely the participant of an otherwise uncaring ecosystem, not its arbitrator.

Not at all, since these types all congregate in monasteries, sanatoriums, or graveyards before the age of 35. They wouldn't burden the internet with their presence unlike the present so-called fanbase.

I still remember when I finished the base game, and decided to search some info and discuss my favorite parts, just to see that the whole fandom was a bunch of retards that want to fuck the slugcats and spam their Tumblr account.

Hollow knight twitter community is also cancer, people use headcanon as the "true" canon, and when you tell them to use the wiki they have a psychotic attack

this game scared the shit outta me. the spiders overwhelming you, so dark you can't even see them, the map taking forever to open and making no sense, not knowing what I can eat, or what I can grab, or what any of the symbols meant. it was a feeling of being small in a big big world that nothing else had ever given me.

Why do indie games all inevitably become that way? Is it because they feel more entitled to the developers time because they "owe" them for taking a flyer on their game rather than AAA slop?

im starting to realize that every single fanbase or "community" straight up sucks because all of them focus so much on their respective topics that end up building an echo chamber whose sole purpose is defending their obsession from any criticism.

This game and hollow knight both feature white blobbly characters with black eyes. A specific strain of internet parasites discovers this, confuses the small elation of overcoming the game's challenges with life-affirmation, and adopts the game's most superficial elements as a kind of cloak, draping themselves in it entirely, and slowly begins to occupy the game's entire territory, consuming and rotting it from the inside out, until they replace what the game's original message and mood was about, then it's all just fanart and catchphrases and gitgud. Life is actually full of parasites, and the internet is no different.

Thats how fanbases work, sadly
>Original fanbase is enthusiasts who wish to honestly discuss the game
>As game get popular, they get outnumbered by absolute firstcomers with their experiences and unknowing opinions flooding the discussion
>As a result the fans move to another game/fandom and the community degrades into hellhole of shit newbie opinions of "I lost hence (my guy) is underpowered and shit and needs to be buffed and the (other guy) is blatantly OP and needs to be nerfed"

Kek too true, the saturation in the images and cutscenes looks like outtakes from Ori.

I don't mind the music at all man. Snare drums just aren't my thing. They always feel cheap. The environments in this game massive, deep, derelict; I was hoping for massive synthesizers to match them. The snippy snappy snares threw me off at times, but it's a taste thing.

cheaters, leavers, noobs who queue for everdarks without having finished base bosses, evergaol rushers at level 1, noklateo rushers at day 1, trannies trying to claim revenant which is actually the loli character, people who grief you because you didn't follow their route once, people who split off and die alone, people who steal loot that would've been great on your character and then proceed to not use it
but the game is the most fun i've had with a videogame in decades

Every match I've joined in this game has half a server full of trannies and dirties. The chat is like a discord server with it's constant spamming of unfunny, stale memes and the autists on the mics. To top it off, they won't quit whining about how the 16 year old game that barely anyone actually plays deserves updates because "Valve makes money off of it" when the same can be said about literally any multiplayer game that is still being sold today. I don't see these people campaigning for fuckin' Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare or any of the old Call of Duty games that had their servers shut down the second the next game came out. If anything, TF2 is less entitled to updates because it's free to play and you can host your own servers

Fan behaviour is fundamentally mentally ill. No, the problem is not real fandoms being taken over by casuals. The "real fans" are overwhelmingly autistic schizos and the second quoted poster is obviously one of them. Fandom itself is the problem. Sane people don't obsess over a single game to this extent.

to this day, i have no clue why fanbases even matter when it comes to single player games

I can see why it does for MP games, and i can also sort of understand it for games that are somewhat cryptic or for which you might want to engage with the fandom for help or similar stuff, but the vast majority of SP games aren't like that, you start the game and play it, enjoying it or not, keeping on playing it to the end or not, and that's it, why does the fandom matter?

Rain World's community was way better before the first expansion came out desu. You could actually find people that would honestly talk about the game and its mechanics without talking about faggot-tier shit like the memes that surround the game. Downpour even killed threads here. I still loved it though. I love the world and aesthetics of RW, but I also love it mechanically, and it's what keeps the game fresh for me. So, sure, shit like artificer and saint don't fit in, but damn if it wasn't fun zipping around like a cyan lizard and genociding scavs.

That said, it's about time for another playthrough. How do I mix it up? I've gone through the normal route countless times, up the Wall, etc etc. Maybe Outskirts > Farm Arrays > Subterranean > Shoreline?

you may roll your eyes, but trying to get achievos is pretty fun. Setting goals per playthrough such as taming a red lizard, gathering pearls etc. can freshen up the gameplay loop. Also try expedition mode if you haven't already.

A lot of trial and error, but if you can stick with it long enough to get your bearings it gets way more manageable. Also some RNG, but I think it helps spice things up without becoming too bullshit for the most part.

As another anon mentioned, they all spit in the face of the game by prioritising the slugcat instead of the world around it. The game is designed to make you feel like an inconsequential witness to the huge carcass of a dead world. Adding slugcats with quirks and gimmicks, all of which empower you tremendously ways that can only be justified as magic, and whose powers are balanced by making the environment comically hostile, is missing the point. And yes, their addition attracted the fuckedup furfags like leeches in the water.

I get it, i do like the story of artificer with the whole revenge thing yes, but maybe it could have been done without the rocket jumping stuff.
Saint i really like the snow fucked up world thing, but i understand why he could be divisible being a bodhisattva and all.

Honestly this things alone arent a deal breaker for me, the problem is what it attracted, all the furries and faggots, all the pronoun bullshit and OCs.
Fuck its not even interesting shit most of the time, there are some interesting projects like a slugcat language and some other stuff like some very cool animations but its mostly shitposts, memes and furry-tier porn.
