They don't explain a lot of context, but the cult members she whacks seem to be "Transformed" in the other world, and not regular ass people. It's hinted that Claudia's "utopia" is making the other world take over the world, and everyone is transformed into immortal monster creatures.

I would hazard a guess that cult members would periodically go through a ceremony of suicide and get "reborn" this way as the highest act of service to the cult. To the outside world there's a slight uptick in suicides over the few years, and maybe some missing persons, but nothing too shocking.

I feel like they rushed the game half way through when you go back to Silent Hill afterwards. She should've went to Alchemilla instead of Brookhaven, And the carnival section should've been longer also the final boss was kinda lame same with the endings besides heathers cute face.

Yes, that's my theory too. There's almost no street segments, you have vague reasons for going to Brookhaven to begin with, and afterwards you teleport to the Carnival, then teleport to the Church.

My guess is that the original plans were for you to start in the resort area:

>go to Alchemilla
>go to the carnival
>possibly go to the church in old silent hill

Geographically, all these locations are close to one another, but in the final game Heather is teleporting all over the map in an awkward manner.

Cult plotline in 1 was great, it was genuinely disturbing seeing them have a mother abuse her daughter and force her to birth a demon. I felt like 3's relied too much on 1 but it was still great. Silent Hill 2 is also kino on it's own but the issue with that is that it caused F to be made and it made silent hill rely on WAAAA I HAVE WOMAN ISSUES WAAAAAA.

The story that the SH fanbase won't tell you is that each game sold less and less, starting with Sh2. From Konami's side they gave Sh2 a big push but it sold less than 1. So they rushed Sh3-4 out at the same time by splitting the devs. The SH2 team made 3, and a new team made 4. They then turned them into budget series with a release each year.

So the big mistake is that Sh2 initially kind of bombed on release. Sales were somewhere around 1.5-2 million, and Konami was probably expecting around 3 million.

So the series faltered with the release of 2, and most average gamers tuned them out. 3 going back to 1's story is thus likely a desperate attempt to bring people back.
