They complained about the artificial grind of collecting the fragments for an illusion of difficulty, and the annoying "fake-out" animations the game is flooded with, which you only learn through trial-n-error. not even top 5 hardest fromslop games

they complained about the long runbacks that waste your time, needing currency to unlock the benches which also artificially waste your time, and the arbitrary horde fights before bosses which waste your time too. The actual platforming and boss battles arent even as hard as the original hollow knight, its just more tedious and dragged out by longer in-betweens

Elden rings difficulty is awful.
If you thoroughly explore, its too easy. If you dont explore, its too hard. If you dont summon, its too hard. If you DO summon, its WAY too easy.
What the fuck? I just want to play the game but now I have to manage the difficulty too???
Add on top of that the insanely long combos and nonsensical fake outs that the bosses do that would logically destroy the weapons momentum.

It is a fucking challenge to even feel challenged
