Some games get an absurd amount of shitposters in it for whatever reason. Seems like a reasonable step to close the board except to customers if that happens.

I wanted to say it would save /v/ if it was even possible to implement it somehow, but when you think about, it would kill /v/ instead, since there would be barely any posts.

The only other chan I've been to was the one a lot of people moved to when 4chan was down in April, can't even recall the name. Oh, and futaba, but just to take a look.

How would you determine if people play games? Force them to link their Steam accounts and scrape playtime data? That would just result in no anonymity, and 4chan is not secure as the hack has shown us.
this needs to be a requirement for every game, and then to post about it on /v/ you need to authenticate with steam to show your completed the game achievement in order to post about it

Yeah, you're a slopper who only plays the most shilled shit so it has officially verified Steam Deck rankings. A lot of games, indie games or old games don't. But you wouldn't know it because you're a brown slopper who only plays shit shilled by streamers and youtubers.
Just give owners of the game a forum option that doesn't show posts from non-owners, then they can simply ignore shitposts in forums that are full of it and help civilized players who have may have genuine questions in other forums. Non-owners can still scream into the ether and if owners want to engage with that, that's their business.

If the forum has been barred, the game is popular enough to have already have that answered several times in the archives among the endless shitposting.
>>723949747
It should have them. It should also not allow chart posting, steam chart posting, sales figures threads, twitter screencaps, or blatant self promoting "gaming journalist" articles.
>>723950121
Everyone worth a shit just moved to /bant/ which is a better board anyway because it has thread IDs and flags.
Imagine giving an email to some fat janny to use to compile a record of everything you post. LMAO
>>723951504
I literally just asked what if the game isn't well know and you're telling to use google?
You're literally a subhuman, you're incapable of maintaining a string of thought for a couple of forum posts, that is very concerning.
>>723949695
Understatement of the decade. Anything remotely visible attracts shitposters on the Steam forums, for every game, to say nothing of games that are even vaguely popular. You honestly get good threads here fairly often, you never get a good thread on steam with a lot of games.
>>723951704
Keep crying about being gatekept for the good of the people. Any question you have to ask in good faith can be answered without posting on the steam forums.
Borders are good, rules are good, protecting those that wish to enjoy something is good.
from what I read the option to block anyone except people who bought the game has only ever been used in early access games. So it's very strange use here, but not surprising it's now being used as the new leftist hug-box control method.
Woke devs being laid off, leftist game journos being laid off, what's going on fellow Discord Xisters? https://archive.ph/ttyPf
>Video game website TheGamer has suffered widespread layoffs, according to former staff. >On Wednesday, several former members of the site’s editorial teams took to social media to announce that they’d been laid off.
>>723951572
nobody talks about video games on bant or even really culture war shit outside of the pol threads that get dropped into it so idk what you're talking about
>>723949607 (OP)
this should be implemented on every steam discussion board thoughbeit, just have a single section where people can ask "before I buy" questions.

Those who had the foresight and were right yet again despite being told "nuh-uh!" before the inevitable lay-offs. I don't post such, but this is a common phenomenon. If you're so concerned to shit-post, buy the game, shit-post, then refund it. Bonus: allows you to downvote it too.
