Stop wasting time on rereading BotNS. So many newfriends fall for that. Read New Sun, Urth, Long Sun and Short Sun and then read the in-between short stories and then you read Shadows of the New Sun.
Transition from New to Long sun is a bit tough since New Sun is a memoir and Long Sun is a biography, but the characters are much more defined and likeable.

I read it in my school's library and it had different text colors of Bastian's life outside the neverending story and for the events within the story. And obviously due to how the whole thing progresses it used that to fuck with things down the line. That and the name of the book store was printed out mirrored at the beginning, which also plays into it later, dunno if you had that or not either. I found it really cool.
