I hate how Microsoft thinks the core identity of Halo is the mission "Halo" even Infinite tries to call back to that and fails. To us that actually played Halo at its peak the core identity was custom content, multiplayer, cooperative gameplay, social gameplay. When I think, "Halo" the first thing that pops into my head is not a singleplayer run through the campaign, not that I haven't done that plenty of times but it's not the most important thing. When I think "CE" I think of the multiplayer which is part of why it's called CUSTOM EDITION in the first place.

Halo’s only chance at reviving multiplayer is going full Halo 2 and making it an ultra-high-skill-ceiling competitive game again. No sprint, no power ups, just MLG BR start sweats. Since H3 they catered to casuals and eventually lost all relevance in multiplayer.
