Appealing to authority via law is retarded, the entire argument (and the world at large) is based on morality.
But let's shut it down anyway because fuck it, I'm bored.
>genocide
I'll generalise it to excessive murder. Some murder is okay in moderation. Capital punishment and the death penalty, for instance. It is in fact your moral duty in order to protect the larger population from those that would do them serious harm and for it to act as a serious deterrent to others that might.
>thievery
Robin Hood, stealing food to survive etc. Morally justifiable in certain circumstances. Theft for the sale of theft or for personal gain or to deprive others is immoral.
>rape
Unrestrained sexual activities are immoral, it's why we promoted monogamy and marriage as the moderation and not absolute celibacy. Rape is always immoral but it's only part of the picture with the moral half taken as the assumed norm.
Law is morality and was created to temper and condemn the immoral acts of people(s).
So yes, moderation is in fact moral in each case.
