I will say I respect that this DNA game is avoiding gacha for non-cosmetic stuff and everything is obtainable through normal gameplay. I feel like it's a good sign that people are starting to get tired of gacha and want games they can play like a regular game. Of course games like this still take time to play and expect you to log in daily and stuff so I won't play it for the same reason I don't play Warframe, and so on, because I already have enough to play. But it looks like an actual game so I hope it does well.

They just need to do a good job marketing it because a lot of people are going to look at it and assume gacha. So they've got to figure out how to get rid of that image.

>it's a good sign that people are starting to get tired of gacha
it's a sign that the gacha space is heavily saturated with "forever games" that are strangling the space for competition so games have to do things like advertise "we won't scam you with gambling!" to have a chance to gather an audience.

Thing is it feels like all games are starting to do that, not just gacha. Random offline single player games still getting updates 8 years later. I'm not sure what the gameplay is, are they hoping to stop everyone else from making games so their game is the only one people will ever play?

Clinging onto the tagline that this is a 'gacha game without gacha', is just awful messaging. Anyone would think that a gacha game without gacha is just a fucking game, like every other game that doesn't have gacha elements. It tells people absolutely nothing.

Would you say the same about an arcade game that isn't coin operated?

I mean it does have all the things people normally expect from gacha, such as waifus with big asses. And that's all I can think of.

are the units women only or is it a gay game filled with dudes you're forced to get spooked by?
What's the gameplay like?

>spooked
It's not a gacha. You just get whoever you want.
>What's the gameplay like?
Warframe.

A more apt comparison is to say 'an arcade game without the arcade', which also says nothing much because the base word 'game' itself is too general to mean anything.

Is this honest assessment or does the 'normal gameplay' involve days/weeks/months long grind to get what paypigs get for $1.99 immediately?

It's a gacha game alright, it just has different gacha.

Gacha isn't shit because it offers you to pay for dlc. It's shit because the need for you to pay to justify the expense of development results in a gameplay loop that always feels like dogshit trash to anyone without gambling addiction. If the loot boxes are replaced with dailies and other grinds it's just as bad. Mmos where the original gachas. A gameplay loop that demanded massive monthly investments and had to be bad on purpose to justify the expense

There's nothing inherently bad about gacha gameplay loops aside from the repetition. All games have gameplay loops. The difference is that your average game has an ending, whereas gacha games never end until they reach EOS. Multi-player games are guilty of this too btw

No, it literally means just that. You just grind. Weapons are just like in Warframe, u need to get all components and craft them. For characters you need to obtain their respective fragments, 30 of them, and you fuse them to get the character. They even copied the mod polarity and forma systems. Its anime waframe lite, badically

Actually most gacha games that are popular enough to stick around do tend to have a proper ending with a conclusion to the story, credits roll, etc. They then proceed to begin "part 2" of the story for people who want to keep playing, but you absolutely can experience a satisfactory ending and good place to quit as long as the game doesn't flop hard and die before the devs reach that point.

Gacha games was designed to work around uneven economic and income distribution. It lets whales pay more to balance the lower paying and f2p players.
>>724616457
I disagree with the gambling addiction. Gacha isn't exactly lootbox. Lootbox is frequent and usually happens after every match, it replaced your reward. The gacha in most gacha games is a rare engagement because a typical non whaling player likely won't get more than 1-2 rolls per day. A gacha game that rely on gacha gambling as their reward system/core gameplay will eos easily

I would say that the major failing of the gameplay loop in "grindy" games is that they also tend to implement some sort of stamina system that limits how much you can progress in a given day, usually with the option to pay real money in order to be able to progress more. That's where this game and Warframe both succeed. They have no stamina system, so you can play until you're satisfied. At that point, it all comes down to personal taste and becomes a matter of how much you enjoy the gameplay and if it motivates you to keep playing.

You clearly never played old gen korean MMO. Back then, there was a problem where hardcore players progressed way too fast, to the point of running out of content and then having nothing to do. This group of players make a huge complaint about it that in the end developers have to make the content grindy to artificially lengthen it. When games started to spread to everyone because of smartphone, the same system was also moved to mobile but caused issue where a lot more players are working a day job and has limited time to actually play the game. This was when "auto-play" started to become the trend, this is where you let your phone run the game like a mining rig for hours to progress. Stamina system is the final solution they now settled as an answer to "grindy gameplay loop".

I actually did play a lot of old Korean MMOs back in the day. MapleStory, Mabinogi, ACE Online, MU Online, even weird shit I quickly gave up on like Kal Online and Silk Road Online. And something called Dream of Mirror Online which I actually liked but I'm now finding out it was apparently a Taiwanese game. They did all have the problem you said where they were so unreasonably grindy that it wasn't even fun anymore even if you liked the gameplay. But I don't think the stamina system is a good solution because what ends up happening is the "hardcore players" pay money to be able to grind freely, then progress way too fast and complain about having nothing to do. So it's just the same problem again.
I think there's a happy medium to be found you can throw a bone to those hardcore players by giving them something difficult to aim for, like a ranking system, something that will keep them busy, while making the majority of the game actually attainable for the average player without too much grind. This is what Warframe does. Then you can make your money off cosmetics or something, because these people fucking love spending money on cosmetics.

Yeah it may not be a gacha but it sure keeps up the gacha tradition of being easy as fuck.
>"B-but you HAVE to pull so and so to beat the game!" - idiot whales
The fact that people are so incompetent they genuinely can't beat the game without god mode shows just how far the average person's gaming skill has fallen. THIS is what makes me worry for the future of gaming. Not the games themselves, the so-called "people" playing them.

What are you talking about, have you even played this?
You can buy them but there is no character gacha, they take maybe 2 hours to grind and then youve got it

I suppose I have a naturally poetic way of speaking that confuses people, I wasn't saying it was a gacha, I was saying it's easy like all gacha games are. And then I proceeded to shit on the people who say gacha games aren't easy.
