I will never forgive gamers for ruining Nioh. The original Nioh Alpha had one of the coolest lock-on systems in gaming where you would only face the enemy if you pressed the stick lightly to walk, if you pressed it all the way the hard lock would disable, this meant that you actually felt like a badass samurai who had to be in control and not panic if you wanted to face your enemy. Naturally in the survey everyone bitched about this so in the final game it's just a generic Souls lock-on where you look like a dumbass constantly strafe running left to right

Fuck gamers

that does sound pretty cool

They also made the enemy layout way less interesting because people bitched about it being "unfair"

I should get around to playing Nioh. It's supposedly like DS1 for the reasons I like (slower meatier combat, more interesting level and enemy design), and not spam shit like the games after DS1. The bosses looked fucked up and brutal though.

I'm sorry. My favorite thing about the Nioh games is their rather well put together coop system. You can just get summoned into random games to help out, or you and up to two others can share a revive bar and get serious which was also fun.

This is literally the only night of the year where that one anon can have Tate Eboshi walk the Earth and do sex to him. I bet he ate candy and fell asleep.

This sounds good in theory, but in practice it would have resulted in people just locking on to targets to face them, running, and then stopping to lock on again before attacking and it would have looked retarded.

It worked and looked way less retarded than the ugly lock-on system they have now.

Most autistic complaint I've ever heard well done anon.

That sounds cool but in practice I'm sure I'd keep crossing the threshold by mistake, or it'd have issues with specific controllers' analog sticks, or something

Dude, no. Absolutely not in the slightest. It is about quick combat, status stacking for both yourself and the enemy, and stamina management. Or just Living Weapon spam.

You also had weapon durability which made the loot system make more sense - you couldn't just always use the best stick around but had to adapt if you ran out of whetstones.
The spear light stance was insane and had to be nerfed though.
Enemies followed you almost around the entire map, you could make your own musou style fights with 20+ soldiers and whack away, see this for example:

I have 100 hours on N1 and 200 hours on N2 and I still feel like a shitter. I can't get the God of Wind timing consistently, I never flux 2, I never use dash/sprint attacks, never parry (only yokai counter) etc. I feel like the skill ceiling is just too high in these games, hence them not being that popular. And more importantly, the RPG mechanics are just too powerful, so you can trivialize a lot of the challenge and never learn how to play "properly", which doesn't sit right with me.

That sounds super interesting. It's a shame they never put that back in at least as an optional feature.

The higher up in difficulties go the less and less you need to "play properly" because it's intended you completely overpower enemies with your build and cheese the hell out of them while in the regular stages you skip everything that's not a mandatory encounter with the silent walking ninjutsu.

Why do you think everything in WotD onward in 1 becomes LW spam, paralysis iai cheesing, or Kusa confusion spam? You can try and git gud if you want, but you're intentionally making the game harder on yourself as if being one-shot with anything but a heavy armor build (Which itself dies in like three hits) wasn't enough of a clue. You also have access to like 70% of the Onmyo and Ninjutsu trees just through osmosis without even focusing on them that much.

Sure, you can use tonfas if you want and make the fight take 2 minutes of ridiculous amounts of fluxing and execution but most people are going to be using kusas, 1kat, or odachis and slaughtering everything in seconds because no one sane is going to want to deal with the ridiculous tanks that are WotN bosses in any serious manner that doesn't involve cheesing.

The nioh alpha on the ps3 was one of the best gaming experiences i had. Every step, every input mattered. You truly needed to show courage, strategy, cunningness and so on. The ecperience transcended gaming, it felt like i was the samurai walling thinly on life and death.

The later games were fun but got sloppified. Shame.

Why are Nioh threads always infused with this aura of nihilism and angst?

>which doesn't sit right with me.
While I can appreciate where you're coming from, you also seem genuinely mind broken. Are you slobbering all over your controller like some retard just mashing buttons until something works? I doubt that. And if you really want to git gud you could always just try harder, but considering you only have like 300 hours across both games total, at your own admission, you don't really care about getting good you just want to be some loser faggot on /v/ lamenting how they can't get good at their precious vidya gaem.

Sorry.

reached ng+4 and started the underworld in nioh 2 and the combat is honestly shit it's purely about the build, just because you press more buttons in nioh doesn't mean it's more skillfull, fromsoftware games require more skill and timing and learning opponent moveset, i barely learned any enemy moveset in nioh i mostly just stunlock and apply status effects
and there wasn't any enemy that took me like 20 tries or something also in all the ng+ i was always 150+ underleveled
