The greatest games of all time were fucking MBs. PS2 discs never went above 8GB. Morrowind is less than 10GB.

Morrowind is that big? Among the largest games of the old days I remember were some adventure games that took up six, eight, even ten CDs for all the cinematics and stuff. You'd have to swap the discs between different locations every so often. Otherwise they didn't hog much HDD, tho.

It's not, Morrowind is like 1 GB without expansions, but of course everyone installs the expansions and a bunch of mods nowadays.

If the developer is competent enough to include all his game assets in the game code or game executable, he's competent enough to store them there in formats that take next to no space.
