The stagnation didn't really set in until 2014 IMO. That's the point where things really start to feel the same. 2005 feels like a very different time, the internet was still a relatively niche thing, smart phones didn't exist, social media was just barely in its infancy, rock music was still regularly charting, shit the Lord of the Rings movies had just finished coming and and still had a huge cultural impact at the time.
