Controllers needing batteries sucked ass. I have several remotes that all need AA or AAA batteries, and controllers drain them like nothing else. It's a big waste of money.
You know what I have though? A rechargeable DualShock 3 that I got back in 2009. Over 15 years old, still regularly use it since my PS3 slim is still my primary BD player, and it still works great.
I have my launch DualShock 4, it is the only controller I use for my PC and my Steam Deck when it's docked. Over a decade, still great.

Skill issue, but also you can get those AA batteries that have a built-in USB. You could probably find some that are smart enough to be left plugged in for an extended time without damaging the battery.

Because if the controller is a handheld monobody controller, there is no reason for it to have a battery instead of just a USB cable with adequate strain relief.

Its not a bad thing.
I dont put batteries in the controller.
I plug the controller into my computer or an outlet with a usb cable so it never needs batteries.
And since there is not built in lithium battery, the controller remains light and it will never start a fire.
ive done this since the Xbox One released.

USB C stays firmly in the back of an Xbox Series controller.
Xbox One controllers use a micro usb, and those will shake loose.
to keep the wire in place I drilled a hole in the removable battery plate, and put a bolt in it. Took the lid from a pop top soup can and cut a slot so it could fit over the wire and bolt. then used Nuts to pinch the metal in place. You can also keep the Tab on it at the top and loop the cable through it, so its harder to pull the cable out.
there are a bunch of different ways to do it.

Chink controllers mostly had awful wireless until the last year or so, you'll still want to do research on individual models but there's stuff from multiple brands that's competitive with or surpasses (not that you'll notice in practice) first party response times now

I bought a battery pack that (two battery packs for around $17) I just pop em in the charger whenever they get low. They saved me money on buying AAs within the first month and I'll never have to take my controller apart to replace the built in battery. Seems like a good compromise
