It may have defined a generation, but is it really the greatest game ever made?

Yes, if you like Zelda games.

It's not even really that good. The combat sucks, the dungeons all feel and look the same and exploration feels pointless since the rewards for exploring suck.

It has the best combat though. You can engage enemies in dozens of times more ways.

Its only a perfect game if your entire gaming experience is nothing but Nintendo games.

God, I've been replaying BotW on Master Mode, and I swear to god, maybe its just placebo, but it feels like they break even FASTER than before.

You have to be a special kind of retard to run out of weapons
Your weapon set adapts to the area you're fighting through, and if you think a bokoblin isn't worthy of your guardian spear then shoot him with an arrow.

I beat the game easily but I still thought weapon breaking was dumb. It screams "what a game designer thought would be fun" vs "what is actually fun"

It keeps the weapons rotating in your inventory, it adapts the damage to the area you're fighting in, it gives you more choices to tackle fights
>B-B-BUT IS IT FUN???
Yes I love breaking a sword on their faces and watch them ragdoll.

BOTW is a more coherent experience and feels more polished as a game
TOTK has more content and makes the sidequests not worthless, but feels a lot more unfocused and cobbled together

The obvious intention behind the breaking of weapons is to help keep exploring viable, and honestly I kind of agree with it. There are tons and tons of weapons around, and if I just got a 50+ strength weapon right out of the gate, I'd fucking hate it if every time I explored a nook I found a weapon because I will never fucking use the damn thing. Honestly, it's either that or you just literally never find any weapons which doesn't make sense with what the enemies all carry with them.

It sucks, but it keeps the rest of the game actually fun.

I really enjoyed the first few hours, but when I realized the Beast dungeons were so similar to one another my interest plateaued and I played it much slower and intermittently. A shame because Hyrule Castle itself was great.
