kratos is not a positive male role model, even in the new games. he's still way too closed off from everyone around him, shoulders too much without seeking help and still angers quickly and easily. I do think his arc in the new games (when done well anyway, Ragnarok was a big step down writing wise from the first Nu-GoW game) of running away from his past and how it affects his ability to live with others is a good angle to take the character after the events of 3 though.
