The music and district systems in 6 are great and it's one of the main things I missed going into 7, everything so nicely compartmentalized. It made cities look big but not like a giant sprawling mess as they are in the sequel. Workshop has some OK mods on it. Everything else is a step down from 4 and 5. If you're a sucker for Civ I'd say it's worth it though, you'll sink 80 hours easy if that's the case.

I personally bought it on discount and creamapi.dll'd all the DLCs, haven't played it that much but for 15 bucks it's pretty worth it so it's a yes from me.

I like 5 and 6. It took me a little bit to adjust to 6 and the first couple games I didn't like it, but the more I played the more I liked the new systems. I feel like science is just way too overpowered in 5. CIV 6 made a good effort to make science not so OP. I also enjoy city planning once I got the hang of it. if you're looking for knobs to tweak, it has many of those. has a few fun alternate rules like advanced barbarians and randomized tech trees. higher difficulties however are just hoping the AI decides to let you get established. all games play out pretty much the same way because of that. its also ugly. 3, 4 and 5 are all better picks, but 6 is probably worth 15

if you're okay with the AI becoming extremely passive around the industrialization era, I’ve tried a lot of mods that tackle this issue. RomanHoliday's AI Rework seemed to be the best, but the problem remains the same: early on, they throw everything at you, and once you deal with that, it's pretty easy to steamroll the rest of the civs. also, the whole diplomatic victory system and the conference are just bad;....it was much better in 4 5 and Civ 7 even

You can piss off AI into war pretty easily by converting cities, making promises and breaking them, causing grievances, having lower military score etc.
The way AI works differently from 5 and more like 4 is that it will generally not try to fuck with you unless you fuck with it. You can keep friends with everyone more or less.
In 5, the AI can and will fuck you over and once they're pissed at you, they'll stay pissed for the rest of the game. Had a game where I had DOF with everyone (huge mistake) and the next turn DOF expired, they all declared war on me. I also didn't have much of a military, but that's my fault.

They don't know how to coordinate, so when they see that the player is stronger than them they just scared into inaction. The AI will typically only declare war on you past the Medieval era under the following circumstances

I do like the early part of the game where one thing can make or break your relationship with a neighboring AI. It's a little annoying to have to research archery as insurance when you don't have any animal resources nearby, though.

it engorges my autism gland it isn't a cheaper update for me owning the base game and a few pieces even though i do wish i just owned it so i didn't have to cream the dlc every time i wanted to reinstall. for some reason i never played civ6 a ton but every once in a while i get the urge. i think it was the only civ i really enjoyed building up the cities, once you understood what was going on it was just always so satisfying which is unfortunate because i always wait so long between games i forget what i'm doing

Engineers drive progress by many orders of magnitude more than "scientists" ever did. Most things have been discovered by randos, often in unrelated fields. Professional, full time "scientists" are a relatively new concept, and they're already completely up their own ass and detached from reality. The best researchers are people that do other things.

It is in a much better state than most people's first impressions pre-balancing patches. Most civs are in a pretty good spot in terms of their unique units and traits and most of the little things added by the DLC can be toggled on and off so you can fine tune your match.. like how severe climate events are from real life mild-ish to full on Day After Tomorrow/Dinosaur or if you want to do the dark/golden ages that can severely hinder or help you with really powerful government policy cards based on your ability to meet a point quota by the end of the era tied to your societal achievements and discoveries.

Civ 6 took awhile to grow on me and I honestly ended up putting it down for awhile but I came back after a few years and found that it is in a much better state now and I cannot stress how amazing the soundtrack is.. I love playing Portugal and meeting so many different civs for the sole benefit of adding their music to the session's BGM and hearing their early era music interspersed with my own.

It's such a shame. I'd honestly download a mod that just automatically gives them free era score if one existed. The regular golden age dedications are so wildly imbalanced.

He will not declare war on you at any point if you befriend him, but he won't have any problem converting your cities

No, not really. VII was so bad that it killed off multiple Civilization content creators, and there were already very few tolerable ones. Boesthius, one of those, stopped recording Civilization videos and started working as an editor for other content creators, I think.

The only one I still watch is Herson, who focuses exclusively on multiplayer VI, but actually puts effort into his videos. I think his sense of humor would appeal to the average /v/irgin. He also exposed two cheaters and a corrupt moderator in the CPL (the multiplayer community for VI) and they banned him for it. I already knew about how corrupt the CPL was thanks to Jack (a fucking retard, but one of the only entertaining VI players) getting excommunicated.

Engineers start out with a result they want to achieve and have to construct a way or device that accomplishes that. "Scientists" start with known and available facts and statistics, and research which result(s) these will lead to.

5 and 6 are well worth it as entry points along with 4. 7 is a disaster, stay away.
