actually microsoft WAS a monopoly until it was hit with an anti-trust and forced to break apart, if valve gets any larger of the marketshare in pc gaming it will need an anti-trust suit lets not kid ourselves into saying steam is anything BUT a monopoly of the pc gaming market and part of the problem is that the industry doesn't want to invest in a store to compete BECAUSE of the power of that monopoly its too much of a risk to invest in a store with no guarantee it can and will survive with such a juggernaut, valve needs to dial it back i think, and this is someone who loves everything valve has done for as a consumer of it myself for a long time and i personally think gabe is a great guy and all the work they do over at steam cannot be understated, this doesn't change the fact that companies won't want to incur the risk in competing with steam because of how large and powerful its become in that market.
