I know /v/ tends to hate achievements / trophies but getting the Platinum for Terraria is a natural end state if you want to try to be a completionist.

But even if you do that there's still all sorts of items to collect and the autism from building your perfect home, city, etc. is pretty much limitless.

The game rolls credits after you kill a specific boss, but it doesn't really incentivise you towards that in any way. The only goal it gives you in clear terms in game is Dryad talking of the world purity. So the main goal offered by the game is mining out all the corruption in your world.

I think I accidentally summoned the wall after a half-hour of exploring hell and immediately died trying to mirror back home. And if a player can't figure it out on their own, I'm pretty sure the guide will say something about sacrifices.
