Only 3 years ago really; I decided I had enough with modern vidya and wanted to go back and play older stuff. Went through the loops to get as much physical stuff as possible but just realized I'm only limiting myself by buying from resellers who upmarket 'retro' shit at 300% price value, and that by emulating I'll have access to games I never would have known about or reasonably obtained. It made me feel a bit gross at first cause it felt like I was disrespecting the devs by not 'properly' buying it, but then I figured I'm probably doing those devs a diservice by NOT playing their games and potentially getting other people to play it.

Also if the OG suppliers of said consoles aren't gonna support the consoles and games, then I shouldn't have to give them or some other schmuck who just wants to make a quick buck my cash.

I started a hundred years ago with shit like NES and Genesis emulators, then I ignored it for decades and only recently (The past month) I got into it again. Dolphin mildly chapped my ass because it's the only one that inexplicably didn't have a "Oh use your Xbox controller" default setup so I had to bind everything myself, and then I cursed Nintendo when I booted up Twilight Princess only to learn that the fucking X Axis on the camera stick is inverted because in Japan left is right and right is left

It's been fun though, I've been mostly playing hack and slash games I missed due to console exclusivity and/or didn't even realize the games existed, and I've been playing around with some Switch games which can be reasonably pretty when you're massively overscaling the resolution. It is weird to never play a Pokemon game and then start one and it's crystal clear that everyone's 100% fucking those things non-stop off camera at all times. I thought it was just horny people memeing around but no, it's how the game presents it

I started emulating around 2008-2009 and started playing old Nintendo games like Mega Man and Final Fantasy when I was about 9. Eventually playing all the Mega Man games.
It eventually led me down to the Roll rabbit hole

It's almost like 90s technology didn't magically cease to exist in 2000.

A day or two if no one picks up the phone.

Shortly after discovering midis. Nesticle and Final Fantasy. Then finding out there were translations for all those games japs never released in english.
Spent $1900 on a p3 450 with a voodoo 2 for N64 emulation.
Zsnes for SNES. It worked better before they had to add superfx and the Megaman X2/3 chip.
Connectix VGS was great for playstation. Bleem was a joke. Epsxe was always garbage.
26 years later N64 emulation is still terrible. Those are the games that actually need remakes, so the camera can have real controls. Blast Corps has nothing else like it.

Ah well. I don't exactly feel like working on it either so I can't blame anyone.

the only bad thing is (at least to me) is eternal sonta is pretty much dead locked to consoles, since it can't run on rpcs3 without constant crashing and it doesn't work on xenia

You had to come home in time to watch the new episodes of your favorite shows, and if you didn't, you WOULDN'T WATCH THEM.
Until the rerun next day. DVR recording was nice too.

I tried to run Xenoblade 2 last year after upgrading my RAM but my pc still couldn't handle the game.

we need more nerds working on emulators
my ps2 games still have glitchy textures like in AC4 or flickering shadows in KH2

Is Xeno 2 still bad on emulator? I know 1DE and 3 run just fine but I've always heard about 2 being very bad on it.

I can't talk about it because my pc is kind of a potato by today's standards, but when I tried it still had choppy framerate for me. I assume it's my pc and not the emulator because I think I've heard people here have emulated it.
