tinkering with the settings until the game "feels good" just cheapens the whole experience. It makes devs lazy and not design the game well.
Games should be made with the nerdy hardcore gamer in mind first and focus on engaging gameplay then have difficulty modes that tone down the damage and/or mechanics to casual level.
example of how it should be:
normal mode
>enemy damage medium
>enemy reaction time 0.5 seconds
easy mode
>enemy damage lower
>enemy reaction time 1 seconds
Example of how it is in starfield for example
normal mode
>enemy damage medium
>enemy reaction time like 2 seconds
hard mode
>enemy damage high
>enemy reaction time like 2 seconds
why is enemy reaction time so low in star field? because they designed the game around non gamers first and didnt have difficulty change enemy AI (because they are hacks). If they designed the game around actual gamers first and had enemy reaction time take less time then had lower difficulty just reduce damage then it would make the game feel better overall and wouldnt filter out the casuals.
Blizzard got popular because they made games that were "easy to get into but hard to master" (having some mechanical depth for nerds). Thats what they were known for. some some reason after WoW devs believed blizzard became top dog in PC world for simply making easy to get into games and forgot the hard to master part.
