I hate them. I think they are a very harsh contrast to the rest of the game design-wise. The rest of the obstacles and even mobs don't feel like they're out to get you, but rather they're in your way and you can either power through them or conquer them strategically. It's you verse the mountain, and it's more of a puzzle than anything. Zombies are actively on your ass, it's no longer you trying to surpass obstacles in the mountain but the mountain actively trying to kill you, which I really don't like.

Could you always use pickaxes as pitons or was that just not in the patch notes? I swear they did nothing before.

You could always use them as pitons, alpine has the rusty pitons and mesa has the pickaxes. They were always meant to mirror each other, I don't think it was in the patchnotes since they came with mesa since the start.

They updated it in a way that actively made it worst and you could see that the direction of the game is going the wrong way. I like zombies, adds a powerful threat if youre way too carefree.

I love zombies, I think they're super fun, but I also think that they're way too menacing and difficult to new players and as a 2nd level hazard. They're super easy to juke but someone who's seeing them for the first few times is going to run away from them, not run sideways to avoid the lunge.
All in all I just think that they're something that's better restricted to later in the game.

I have a feeling the green farting bug is triggered by some explosion unintentionally cooking a cure all which shouldn't be possible. Putting a cooked cure all in the inventory if you pick it up that you can no longer drop. I first saw an iteration of this bug with the cooked cursed skull, where you could duplicate it infinitely. Fun stuff if it's easy to reproduce.

All the things you listed are nature-based and somewhat counterable by basic preparation. NTA but I rarely peak in the game despite having over 200 hours but the point of the climb is making it, it's why so many of the best lobbies I was in had desperate attempts to get the flare so people could escape. All setting the flair off early is ruining the fun for those who wanted to peak. But again you have your idea of fun and so do others and I don't think it will ever change.

I generally dislike item spawning, I still frown at freak occurrences of the game breaking but it being something entirely out of the players or hosts control is somewhat bullshit.
I mean most of the lobbies like two months ago were hosted by people that just kept spawning in cure alls and tools every single run, including random moments of just spawning in cannons and other shit just to stand around and goof off instead of climbing for several minutes straight which really took away from wanting to play, and hosting games didnt change much either because a certain few kept spawning items even while not the host.

This iteration of the mod is different from the previous one. The cap is still 10, but it's split into 2 groups, "idle" zombies and "horde" zombies. The idle ones spawn from tumbleweeds like before, but the horde ones have a 40% chance to spawn when luggage is opened. The horde ones always sprint, and never change their targets. I've got a couple of quick good ideas so I'll probably make some more updates to the mod and host it again later today, but I'll post this version anyway
