Planetcracking was a complex engineering process spanning months and ship tractoring in the chunk was the last part of the process, it would be utterly useless against hostile cosmic entities that wouldn't just sit there and wait for you to get everything ready. Also even if you caught them dormant somehow, it's not like you would really much damage. It's pulling out a small chunk of the planet, not literally cracking it apart.

In Dead Space 1 and 3 it's implied markers are actually the counter to necromorphs. Their energy accidentally creates necromorphs but also kills them with ease.
Anonymous No.725266095 [Report]
>>725265549
It wouldn't be clever, but it's a narrative solution built in from the very start of the series
Isaac and his team of engineers would figure out a way to expedite the process to cut chunks out of increasingly bigger necromorphs using increasingly bigger OSHA violations/work tools, and beating Dead Space 4 would let you wear a tiny OHKO Ishimura on your hand like the unlockable Hand Cannons from previous games
Anonymous No.725266353 [Report] >>725267939
>>725265549
The only reason it was complex was because it was meant to be a net productive process, not purely destructive. If there is no concern for identifying mineral and ore deposits, and no concern about getting the pieces into a stable orbit that can then be worked on, the complexity of the process drops immensely.

A game where you go around to the colonies and grab as many moon killing ships and weapons isn't a bad idea, it's just a bit beyond the scope of Dead Space, probably
It'd be like something you'd get out of a Mass Effect 4 where shooting the Catalyst was canon
The real problem would start with Dead Space 5, after 4 ends with you managing to kill (almost all) the brother moons at the cost of (almost all) humanity, but you need to milk the cashcow so suddenly the Necromorphs returned

Nah, the War of the Beast and Rangdan Xenocides show that the Imperium of 30K, when the Emperor was still active, struggled massively against any race that could throw attack moons at it
Without Big E walking around and with only two Primarchs, the Imperium of 40K is cooked
Also Necromorphs are one of those fictional monsters that scale to the setting they're in because the Markers would start giving entire Imperial hive worlds marker dementia. If genestealers can take over entire Imperial hives, of course the Markers could too

iirc the cut 4th game would have been "open world" which maybe would have meant traveling freely in open space, like an extension of what DS3 attempted. presumably this would have meant traveling to different brethren moons to destroy them, and since isaac was not planned as the main character, his superhero solutions are off the table. so it probably would have been killing the brethren moons in a planet cracker with some crew of ex-earthgov or something like that. who knows what they really planned though.

I think it depends on the atmosphere the game builds. You always feel like everythings in the shitter and you are barely clinging to life. Your luck running out at the end is perfectly in line with the general atmosphere.

As another example of bad guys winning that sucks is Warhammer Fantasy.
Everythings also in the shitter however the game is filled with heroic characters and civilizations that have endured the forces of chaos for centuruey. Chaos winning was such a massive middle finger to everyone because of the way it transpiried.

I don't think there's any disagreement that a Marker would easily destroy an entire Hive planet with basically no resistance, like you said similar to a Genestealer infestation. But the reason why the Imperium can overcome the Necromorphs is what happens after they take a planet.

When the Genestealers take a planet they call a Hive Fleet, which is an obscenely unstoppable force. The Necromorph final-stage evolution is a Brethren Moon, which unfortunately is a single thing and it's only strategy is to fly at another planet. A singular body that contains all the forces of a Necromorph invasion can be easily dispatched by the Imperium. The Marker/Moon has a brain-scrambling range of what? 1km?

Don't get me wrong, I think the Necromorphs are a top-tier threat but the Imperium as decrepit as it is can handle it. I don't even want to entertain the tired notion of the Imperium sacrificing planets, the fact is any race that can muster on-demand orbital bombardment can handle something like the Necromorphs - and most sci-fi depictions of humanity can't.

Because the ships aren't going FTL speeds in their own reference frames and thus aren't carrying the energy of photons. You can see that the passage of time is normal for the occupants in the opening of DS1. It's some kind of space warping method as it has to be in reality or any fiction that makes sense. An object actually traveling at light speed wouldn't experience any time because the speed of light is the rate of propagation of forces for all particles in that object.

WH fantasy chaos gods eat 'realities' because realities in fantasy are small and self-contained. They're just a generic 'dimensional invader' threat there with a demon-viking aesthetic.

Chaos gods in 40k were literally born from the subconscious of warp-sensitive races like eldar, orks, etc. There's no other realities, they haven't ever actually accomplished anything except shitting up the warp and causing a civil war. Their power within the material realm is extremely limited and they rely mostly on mortal patsies to do anything.

until we get some real depiction of what its like when a moon approaches another celestial entity to spread its super fun times its hard to quantify how much of a threat it could be to any sci fi settings where humanity has achieved FTL and has more than the ramshackle interstellar civilization it has in dead space
we've seen it warping whatever organisms it gets a hold of into completely foreign and unrelated forms so it making big flesh monsters designed to be thrown at other planets to get a foothold isn't out of the realm of possibility we just haven't seen it because the series' focus is on how humans are spreading it to by ignorantly making markers
its basically just a daemon world and one that obeys more of the fundamental laws of reality than most and daemon worlds can be dealt with through enough applied munitions
the threat is mainly that when a planet gets to that point there's not much else to do besides glass it and forget the place existed

>The ideas for the game are mainly confined to Visceral Games' story team. While they knew how the game would end, Wanat refused to give the ending away in case Electronic Arts returned to the franchise. He provided hints by stating "I don't want to give away the lore, but I will say that we spent a bit of time working out the origin of the Necromorphs and what purpose humans held in this dark universe. Would players find a way out of the Necromorph apocalypse? I'd say yes, but they might be sorry they did. Sometimes you're better off with the devil you know..."

And then I won't link to leddit but the cut audio from DS2:
>"Bonny Worthington (I believe she's stating her name anyways.) - It all makes sense now. I have to leave this in case I don't make it out.
>We are objects of revenge. The echo in our brains is not an echo at all - It's a genetic defense mechanism implanted from whoever or whatever created us. They were fighting the markers billions of years ago and they're still fighting them now, through us.
>The markers are some horrific revenge tool, planted like parasitical wasp eggs (I think?) on caterpillar larvae. We're the latest pawns in an eons long war.
>Oh god, I'm not going to make it. This information can't die here. It must get out.
>No! No! [Screaming.]"

A planetoid sized necromorph would seem undefeatable in any setting where they haven't already established that civilian commercial spacecraft can pull apart entire planets just to mine them

Why the hell they didn't have Isaac use the Ishimura to pull apart the moon is beyond me

Go play Starcraft, Starcraft: Brood War, and Starcraft 2 so you can understand why SC2 didn't need to be made when all it did was ruin the story (despite being a fun to play campaign) of a dire fictional universe that no rational human being would want to live in.

Nigga it's a video game. Battery being missing and having to grab something replace it is par for the fucking course for standard video game protagonist.
And it not starting is the most fucking trivial thing you could've said. You must be a fucking moron who thinks their car is a mystic fucking golem and you can't jury rig around something like that like I did for 3 fucking years with my own truck.
You're an actual retard. Say something like the engine block being missing because then it'd actually take some effort that a video game protagonist might not have time for.
