Honestly, I just need to play more patiently and use more homing moves. I keep repeating the same oki and rushy rushy options since I get so scared of being caught on the backfoot. It's helpful sure, but it gets outdated quick. Locals are nice though. I don't have any. I've been watching pros but how pros play tekken feels significantly different than "tekken". They just do a lot of poke heavy defensive gameplay which is ironic since people complain about hyper aggression in this game. Which I get, you don't want to be on that side so you'll do small pokes and don't overextend because losing "neutral" once is just hell to try and regain your momentum back.

Dont be afraid to watch your own replays too. The best way to get better in fighters is honestly running long sets vs people so you can understand matchups and habits more. Playing people in best of 3 games isnt always conducive to learning since they can gimmick and use grease to get you.

BnBs get outdated quick. It's one of the thing I hate the most of how "combos" are in fighting games but that's probably a story for another game. I don't want to get rid of combos but I wish there was an approachable way to find and learn them. I don't know if it's posers but it really does seem like most people in the fighting community refuse to try to move the skill floor up by providing resources to help the community get better. I'm half thinking it's because people just want people to stomp online and it's a bit of twinge of superiority complex.

To answer your question, the obvious answer is to watch the pros on yt and play online and lose, lose, and lose some more until you start getting the hang of it to be able to occasionally win (you will still lose most of the time). These games are extremely autistic. You will be playing against people that dedicate their entire life to playing these games and have been playing them since at least the fourth entry over 20 years ago. Seriously what's the fucking point? "learning" to play tekken is not an enjoyable thing to do. It can take months of consistent dedication to start getting somewhat decent and at the end of the day it's completely pointless. Nothing this trivial should take so long to learn, and with so much effort.

I don't know where your getting stuff but usually guides I'm looking at are from S1, KingJae tier stuff (aka I'm going down the movelist and I don't really play this character but I can only guess and assume where this move is good at), or combo guides that usually don't use "optimal" as in they have combos that have really tight execution when there's an easier option with the same damage. (because they rush the combo guides out, I get it though can't really hate the game.)

I got better by learning my characters frame data, and studying what i get hit by the most, and how to counter/block it.

You can get very far by just learning your bread and butter 10-14 frame moves, and getting better at blocking.

Use the training mode a lot. you can set up the enemy npc to throw randomized moves at you, so just get it to throw the 14/15f launchers, and practice blocking/punishing when you have frame advantage

Youtube is probably the best bet. For general fundamentals just know about reads/conditioning/your bnb(s). If you need MU specific knowledge then you also need to seek that out. You don't use your entire moveset and stick with just some moves. (This applies for all fighting games not just tekken). People will always get pissy no matter who you play. It could be the most bottom of the barrel dogshit nonfunctioning character and people will still seethe.

Also a guide isn't completely irrelevant just because it's from season 1. Patches change things, but the character as a whole is still the same. You can specific new things that changed here and there. But what you really want is how that character is supposed to function ideally. Jin will be Jin whether it's 1 year from now or 5. As for moves, don't worry about learning them all. You only need around 15 (honestly 1-17). Most pros also only use a few. You add more as you get better and can decide what you think is useful.

Honestly in Tekken if you understand whats punishable for characters that alone takes you very far. Figure out what your fast punishes are (10,12,13,14 frames) and get used to tagging opponents on moves that arent safe. Often times at lower ranks (no offence) that can fuck with peoples heads and allow you to run your game.

I don't play Tekken, but you can't go to reddit for advice. The people there play less and are just as cradled as the ones here. Only check to see if they have guides or player resources.
