In solo it means you are generally up against other solo players. Now sure some people could potentially queue at the same time and be placed in the same lobby but i havnt seen that. Its more likely if anyone teams up they did diplomacy with another random that round.
Ok so the map timer is 30 minutes I think. Usually you and others fill up the map close to that but sometimes it drops you in late so you have limited time to loot and find an exit.
The exits are re-usable, multiple people can escape at the same time. You usually have to call an elevator or train. Its loud, it lights up, it can draw attention from other players or the ARC. I have been downed by robots and press the escape button and make it. If you have time you can hide and watch people escape and choose to call it again after they escape. Or you can try to sprint into the elevator as the doors shut and hope the people inside let you live. When its shutting you have 5 seconds and if you are downed but not out you still escape with loot.
Right now group games are more hostile, solo has a lot of friendlies roaming around. Sometimes that makes it very easy to gank people, but other times the peaceful hoard will try to punish any gankers.
I have many runs where I just quietly loot, try to avoid people, and escape with no problem. But very often I shoot plenty of robots and people leave me alone.
