The Vita has microscopic buttons, a stiff d-pad and several frames of input lag when playing PSP games. It absolutely makes things worse.

The buttons are the one reason I've stuck with the original Psp-3000 instead of upgrading to the Vita. It's already hacked and ready to go, but every time I pick it up and test it out with the few NES/SNES games I threw on it years ago I put it down after a few minutes, it just feels gross.

I've only ever played on my 3000, a friend had the chunky ass 1000 model but last I saw it was over a decade ago. So I can't say I've ever compared the screens properly.

Less grind, it's beatable with normal Patapons so I can focus on story missions and boss battles.

Yes but fighting bosses is fun, doing the same boring hunt over and over isn't.
And it's not like this equipment is necessary, divine soups can carry you to the end even with shit weapons.
That said, I did like many additions in 2 and it's not a bad game by any means.
