I was so hopeful for it, I even bought it day one and chalked its issues up to it just being early in development. Then the story of its development came out...

It is a shame how the devs were fucked over. They wanted to make a good sequel, but take two basically wouldnt let them.

Worlds are clearly very incomplete with dull environments and zero environmental hazards outside of misplaced landings. Only notable place I remember is that canyon on the gray rock.

Basically from what I recall.
>Devs were given the source code for KSP1
>Has no idea what any of it meant because it was already spaghetti as fuck
>Tried to contact the devs of KSP1 to know what the hell they were looking at
>Take-Two told them they were not allowed to talk to them and they had to use the old code as a base for a faster turn around
>Now, with no idea on how anything worked, they, instead of doing what they wanted, and building the game from scratch, had to basically make a mod for KSP1 with ancient code that was already held together with dreams and used gum.
>Game inherited all the problems of KSP1 but cranked up to 11 as a result.
>They tried their best to fix it, but Take-Two dissolved the team shortly after release and denied it for a while, until the members of the team started looking for work elsewhere on the usual sites.

how 2 make it to the mun

>>725365363
Get to orbit. Expand orbit to get to Mun orbit. Decrease orbit so it's a stable Mun orbit. Decrease orbit to straight line down. Expand landing gear. Decrease relative speed to like 10m/s close to ground (about 100m I think I usually do). Stop thrusters.

Get to Mun orbit. Expand orbit to get to Kerbin orbit. Create a stable orbit. Decrease orbit to inside atmosphere. Lose all stages until heat shield. Make sure parachute is armed before you're too low.

>create stable orbit
Omit this step.

Have your perigee go below the atmosphere. The lower the flashier your landing will be.
Anonymous No.725369601 [Report] >>725369864
I will confess something.

I never got a single kerbal out of purple's clutches. Great many big things were landed, some of them even survived it, but none managed to get anyone out.
Anonymous No.725369864 [Report]

It's one of if not the hardest thing to do in the game, considered like a final challenge.
Anonymous No.725370298 [Report] >>725370408
>>725369515
Fair enough, I really am not an expert and figured creating a stable orbit first is safer. Personally I just wing it and do what you said, but I thought maybe that'll fuck you up sometimes.

Anon basically recommended to burn up on reentry
Anonymous No.725370810 [Report] >>725371207
>>725370408
To do that you'll need to set your perigee well below surface level. Granted, I'm assuming a capsule is coming back and not some bulky abomination but even the latter will make it... minus some redundant bits.
Anonymous No.725371207 [Report] >>725371363 >>725371658
>>725370408
>>725370810
That's why I recommended a stable orbit, I don't know where the line is. Personally with a heat shield I've never "burned up" despite being pretty aggressive in my opinion. So I'm not confident in saying what's safe or not with that method.
Anonymous No.725371363 [Report]
>>725371207
Heat shields are ridiculously OP in KSP, you can easily survive direct entry to from the Mun without even going through half the ablator.
Anonymous No.725371658 [Report]
>>725371207
I'd give a number but it's been so long and I played a lot with scaled up stuff that changed atmosphere size.

I recall 2/3 altitude was good enough for mun->kerbin run without popping out or having it spicy enough to burn antennas and other pokey bits.

The real fun is doing a direct ascent from the surface (no circularizing around the mun) and getting the trajectory right.

It legitimately was one of the greatest games of all time, until they went woke and added women to it and effectively RUINED the sequel because of all the shoehorning bullshit and fake promises they pulled.
