I'm no historian but is it really that weird? Dams are no recent invention. Nor are canals. Nor are bridges.
Yeah it might have taken decades and killed hundreds in its construction and it's probably the weak point of the building but still.

The map size obsession is hilarious to me because like 90% of the players just do the main story and quit playing. People barely roam around, do side missions or any of those fun activities like stunts or whatever the fuck...
Unless you want it for multiplayer purposes which is different story.

Yes? The need for a supply of fresh water is greater than the need to avoid flood damage. If the water source is outside of the wall, then there's no purpose behind having walls. Once the water source is taken, the city is indefensible.

It's so funny to me when people look at two guns which are roughly the same shape and go "well, one of those is clearly a rip-off". Nambu Type 14 may look like a Parabellum in shape, but it is so far removed from it internally. Luger is toggle-locked, Nambu has a rotating bolt. Nambus are also infamous for being total garbage, while Lugers are overcomplicated, but reliable and good.

i think its hunter slop not iseakai slop
iseaki is when nip is transported to fantasy/other world
hunter slop is when dungeon or magic is transfered to modern world and gooks hunt there for profit
also some of these look like returner slop, aka return to modern world with powers from fantasy world where you got iseakied

In most rpgs you have a greater goal, are always moving forward and you're not a shitter doing mundane adventurer jobs for cash. In stories set in the setting there are adventurers that are just chilling in the same city and working honest pay, and they need a hub to come back to for consistent work.
I guess monhun is kind of a vidya example but it's a hunter's guild

Also there's that one trope where a city gets turned into a gold rush for adventurers because a huge seemingly endless dungeon shows up out of nowhere directly outside. I'm not cultured enough to really know any vidya like this, probably dungeon crawlers, but persona is one such setting where the dungeon is right there in your town so you don't have to go on a globe trotting adventure.

You don't even need to be cultured in vidya to know anything like that, but what you need is to be able to actually pay attention to this thread and have an understanding of how humanity managed to prosper for over 8000 years.
Setting up near resources or creating a centralized area where resources flow is step one toward growth.
