Fire Emblem was one of them. I hated the DS remakes since they were worse than FE3, Awakening was terrible, Fates was okay but not in the way I like FE, Echoes was going in the right direction visually and tonally but the gameplay sucked, and Three Houses brought me back in hard.
Then Engage happened.

Literally Fire Emblem. I was a huge fan of it until they released Awakening. I fucking hated that shit, and then they revealed Fates and it looked like more of the same shit, so I said fuck it I'm done. Then they went fucking crazy and announced a mobile game, a fucking musou game and an 'SMT' crossover, and I was like holy shit, this series is cooked. They don't even want to make the main games any more. I never really paid much attention to the Switch in its early years, but when I found out they made a new FE game for it, I debated on whether I wanted to buy one for it, but then I looked at screenshots of it and all I could think was 'what the fuck is this shit?' Sometime around mid-2022 I got the urge to start playing the old games again and then shortly after that they revealed Engage and that game ended up being so fucking good and exactly what I was waiting for those ten long years it completely reignited my passion for the series.
