I only played Metroid Prime 1. I think that as an "experience", it's okay. It's an immersive game, it has good music, it has some very atmospheric places, it has a kinda interesting world for you to explore and scan to learn more about it, and navigate, etc.
The pure gameplay is kind of bad. Samus is too slow, and basically you just lock your aim on monsters and use an evasive move that doesn't have good feedback. At least the devs recognized that pure gameplay isn't the game's strong suit, so most of the battles are more about using your head than pure skill, but it's not like it's really complex either.
As always, it's a game whose real quality is distorted because Americans are obsessed with the Nintendo brand. If it were "The Adventures of Robot Explorer X44 in the World of Weird Hostile Creatures", published by an unknown company, would probably be completely forgotten today.

Unlike the rest of /v/, I'm not an extremely hyperbolic retard. I tend to try to view games in a positive light. I saw games at the state of play just a bit ago that I thought looked fun. Yet according to /v/, everything was pure garbage.
I distinctly remember years ago seeing a thread comparing the details in the PS4 vs PC versions of MGS Ground Zeroes.
People were acting as if those who were playing on the PS4 version we're eating literal shit. Why you may ask?
Because when you zoomed in on the detail of the helmet in a cutscene, the PS4 helmets were slightly pointed.
This type of behavior feels almost bordering on lunacy to me. That detail is never even going to be noticed in actual play. I know I never would have noticed it, and I have a PC. And yet it feels like 50% of the things /v/ complains about in video games is equivalent to this. Trivial or minor flaws are portrayed as game ruining.
In an absolute worst case scenario with this desert, It will function like Prime 3's ship menu except instead of a cutscene of me flying to an area, I actually just take a couple minutes to ride there myself.
This will probably take the game down a little bit for me because Prime 1 and 2 with dedicated entrances/exits tied to each other is more enjoyable IMO, but this is a very small part of what makes metroid games fun

I have a strong feeling the game will be like a 7/10. Not terrible, but not great and mostly forgettable similar to MP3. The areas we've seen in the trailer look very linear, so I have a feeling most of the game will be about walking through pretty but mostly empty corridors killing enemies and collecting power ups. There will be little in the way of exploration and world building. The bike segments will be terrible.

it's not a meme, prime and super have the exact same progression with the first three areas interweaving with each other (crateria/brinstar/norfair and tallon overworld/chozo grounds/phendrena) with a sectioned off ship (abandoned ship/orpheon) and a segregated last major area (miridia/phazon mines), retro used super as a template when making prime, the only major difference is adding a transit area (magmoor) between those. The environmental puzzles are an evolution of the hidden destructible blocks from the previous games.

The only game I've been playing on Switch 2 is Mario Picross. I didn't like Bananza after playing it for three hours and I have no interest in the kirby racing game or metroid prime 4. I hope homebrew comes out soon so I can hack it and then wait for the games to come out but the Switch 1 lineup was a lot more interesting.

Metroid is typified by a 2D representation of rooms and corridors together combining into a large map that can be further explored. When someone looks at Metroid Fusion it is immediately recognizable as a Metroid game as such. If someone were not told about Metroid Prime and looked at it they would not immediately assume it was a Metroid game. To further illustrate my point, if Metroid Prime 4 were released and it were made in a 2D fashion, it would be immediately recognized that the game is not a traditional depiction of Metroid Prime games.

Again, the title justified itself as a Metroid game but indisputably Fusion is a more traditional title.
